The 2026 season of the ADAC Opel GSE Rally Cup has not yet begun, yet it is already clear that the organisers intend to raise the bar for electric rallying. The calendar expands to seven rounds in six countries, stretching from the Netherlands to Belgium, with the iconic Rally Sanremo among its highlights.

The centrepiece of the new season is the introduction of the Opel Mokka GSE Rally as the exclusive one-make competition car. Replacing the previous model, the all-electric rally crossover delivers up to 207 kW (281 hp) and 345 Nm of torque. Opel positions the car at Rally4 performance level, while confirming that it is being developed in line with the new FIA regulations for the eRally5 category (Appendix J, Article 260A).

The eRally5 framework establishes a structured basis for electric rally cars, including classification according to useful battery capacity (up to 60 kWh and above 60 kWh). In this context, the Mokka GSE Rally is described as the first vehicle developed to comply with the new FIA eRally5 rules, underlining the international ambition behind the project.

Safety remains a central focus. The 400-volt system is permanently monitored, and in the event of sudden deceleration or impact, sensors are designed to shut down the high-voltage system within fractions of a second. A dedicated fire-extinguishing system using a non-conductive agent is also integrated, reflecting the specific requirements of high-performance electric competition vehicles.

Interest in the new car has already materialised during an official test event organised by Opel Motorsport, where 26 drivers from across Europe sampled the Mokka GSE Rally. At the same time, references are made to an upgraded charging infrastructure intended to support a greater number of competitive kilometres at race pace over a rally weekend.

Customer teams can order the Mokka GSE Rally at a price of €67,900 plus VAT, with deliveries scheduled for the second half of April 2026. This timeline allows crews to prepare for the season opener at the ELE Rally near Eindhoven on 29–30 May.

The championship then moves to France (Rallye Vosges Grand-Est), Austria (Rallye Weiz), Germany (ADAC Saarland-Pfalz Rallye and ADAC Rallye Stemweder Berg), Italy (Rally Sanremo) and concludes in Belgium with the Rallye Spa in late November. Minor variations in date listings between the cup calendar and individual event pages have been noted, but the overall structure of the season is confirmed.

With its broader geographical footprint, a new competition car and alignment with the latest FIA technical framework, the 2026 ADAC Opel GSE Rally Cup signals a further step in the evolution of international electric rallying. The early level of driver interest and the opening of customer orders suggest that the coming season is set to be both more international and increasingly competitive.
