Full-size SUVs are more than just vehicles. They’re trusted companions for family trips, daily commutes, and off-road adventures. With average prices exceeding $80,000, choosing a reliable and long-lasting SUV is more crucial than ever. A new study by iSeeCars, based on an analysis of prices and lifespan of over 3.8 million vehicles, has identified models that offer the best balance of cost and years on the road.

At the top of the list is the Buick Enclave — a crossover that combines a spacious interior, smooth ride, and affordable pricing. With an average cost of $53,448 and a lifespan of 9.6 years, its annual ownership expenses are just $5,555 — well below the segment average of $7,888. The 2025 model features a refreshed design inspired by the Wildcat EV concept, with stylish C-shaped headlights, a wide grille, and a minimalist interior. Inside, a 30-inch display integrates the instrument cluster and infotainment system, while the Super Cruise hands-free driving system is now available.

Next in the rankings is the Nissan Armada, which received a significant update for 2025. Under the hood is a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine producing 425 horsepower, replacing the previous V8. Paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission, the new engine delivers more torque and improved fuel efficiency. The cabin features dual 14.3-inch screens and a premium Klipsch audio system. Armada also offers the ProPILOT Assist 2.1 system, enabling partial autonomous driving on highways. With an average price of $65,654 and a lifespan of 10.2 years, its annual ownership cost is $6,408.

Rounding out the top three is the Lexus LX 600 — a luxury SUV with the longest lifespan among the top contenders, lasting up to 16.4 years. This longevity helps offset its steep starting price of $113,104, with annual costs totaling $6,887 — still below the segment average. Built on the legendary Toyota Land Cruiser platform, the LX 600 combines premium comfort with serious off-road capabilities.

Classic American SUVs also made the list. The Chevrolet Tahoe, with a lifespan of 10.5 years and annual expenses of $7,037, remains a reliable family vehicle with strong resale value. Its sibling, the GMC Yukon, offers a more upscale experience and slightly longer lifespan (10.9 years), though its higher price of $83,509 pushes annual costs to $7,645.

Overall, the study confirms that those seeking maximum value and longevity will find the best balance in the Buick Enclave, Nissan Armada, and Lexus LX 600. However, the Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon remain strong contenders, especially for buyers who appreciate traditional American power and towing capability. With advanced technology and more efficient engines, the latest generation of these SUVs is poised to maintain its popularity for years to come.
