Peugeot Sport presents the 2026 Peugeot 9X8 GTi tribute livery ahead of the FIA WEC season, linking Hypercar design with the new E-208 GTi. Discover key details.

Peugeot Sport enters the new FIA World Endurance Championship season with a striking visual statement: the PEUGEOT 9X8 Hypercars #93 and #94 now wear a completely redesigned livery. The reveal took place on 26 February in Paris at Atelier Vendôme, with the first competitive outing in this new form scheduled for the season opener — the Qatar 1812 km on 28 March.

The new graphics are the result of close collaboration between PEUGEOT Design and Peugeot Sport. At the core of the concept are the so-called Hypergraphs, dynamic gradient streaks that reinterpret the brand’s iconic three-claw motif. These visual elements are intended to convey speed and constant motion, while reinforcing the modern identity of the 9X8 project — a car powered by a 2.6-litre twin-turbo V6 combined with a 200 kW electric motor on the front axle. Under LMH regulations, total output is capped at 500 kW (680 hp), defining the balance between performance and efficiency.

The white, red and black colour scheme directly references Peugeot’s GTi heritage. It was in 1984 that the 205 GTi debuted, becoming one of Europe’s defining hot hatch icons. Offered in 1.6 and 1.9 versions producing up to 128–130 hp depending on market and specification, it built a reputation for lightness, agility and driver engagement. That historical backdrop now serves as the emotional foundation for the brand’s latest chapter.

The connection between track and road is embodied by the PEUGEOT E-208 GTi, unveiled in June 2025 during the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The electric model delivers 280 hp (206 kW) and 345 Nm of torque, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds and has a top speed limited to 180 km/h. Symbolically, its presentation was accompanied by 30 examples of the original 205 GTi, creating a direct visual bridge between generations.

For the 9X8, the update goes beyond aesthetics. The car made its WEC debut in 2022 and initially drew attention for its bold no-rear-wing concept — a radical interpretation within the Hypercar class. Subsequent revisions introduced a more conventional aerodynamic configuration, yet the 9X8 remains one of the most technically ambitious LMH projects in a fiercely competitive field that includes Toyota, Ferrari and Porsche.

The Qatar round opens the championship season, with its 1,812-kilometre distance symbolically referencing the country’s National Day on 18 December. For Peugeot, it marks the beginning of what the brand describes as a “GTi year”, aligning the visual language of its racing programme with that of its new electric performance model.

The new livery therefore represents more than a stylistic refresh. It frames a broader narrative in which GTi heritage meets hybrid and electric technology. While the symbolism draws strength from the past, the technical platform of both the 9X8 and the E-208 GTi underlines Peugeot’s intention to define performance in contemporary terms — on the circuit and on the road alike.
