Porsche Cars Australia unveiled four bespoke cars inspired by the country's landscapes to mark 75 years of the brand in Australia. Explore the models and their design themes.

Porsche marked 75 years in Australia with a distinctive project that connects the brand’s design language with the country’s diverse landscapes. To celebrate the milestone, Porsche Cars Australia unveiled four specially configured cars, each inspired by a different region of the continent — north, east, south and west. The cars were presented during the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix.

According to Porsche Cars Australia CEO and Managing Director Daniel Schmollinger, the cars are intended to highlight both the heritage of the brand in Australia and the possibilities of modern Porsche individualisation. Each vehicle reflects a particular Australian landscape while remaining rooted in the familiar design identity of the brand.

Four models from Porsche’s current lineup were chosen for the project. The tropical north is represented by the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid, the surf-rich eastern coastline by the Taycan 4S Cross Turismo, the rugged southern coast by the Macan 4S, and the vast western outback by the Cayenne S.

The Panamera 4 E-Hybrid, themed “Go North,” is finished in Paint to Sample Emerald Green Metallic. The colour references the lush rainforests of Queensland and the Northern Territory, including landscapes such as the Daintree Rainforest and Kakadu National Park. The 21-inch Panamera Exclusive Design wheels in Neodyme echo the shape of the region’s distinctive fan palms, while the interior features Club Leather in Espresso, recalling the dark soil of tropical forests. A 480-litre Porsche roof box with a payload capacity of up to 75 kilograms highlights the car’s touring capability.

The eastern-inspired model, the Taycan 4S Cross Turismo, appears in Paint to Sample Ipanema Blue Metallic. The deep blue tone evokes the waters along Australia’s Pacific coastline and its famous surf culture. The Taycan Exclusive Design wheels with Crayon aero blades hint at coral formations and marine life beneath the waves. Inside, a two-tone Black and Crayon leather interior reflects the contrast between warm beach sand and coastal shade, while Speed Blue interior accents suggest the cool waters of the Pacific Ocean.

The Macan 4S, themed “Go South,” draws inspiration from the dramatic coastlines of southern Australia. Finished in Gold Bronze Metallic, the colour references the tones of rocky cliffs and coastal terrain. The 22-inch RS Spyder Design wheels in Vesuvius Grey allude to the dolerite sea columns of Tasmania’s Tasman Peninsula. Inside, an extended leather interior in Black and Chalk is complemented by Chalk Beige seat belts and Sport Chrono dial, while orange seat centres and stitching echo the warm hues of coastal rocks along Victoria’s shoreline.

The western landscape is represented by the Cayenne S in the “Go West” configuration. The Paint to Sample Ipanema Brown exterior reflects the colours of Western Australia’s ancient outback terrain, estimated to be around 4.4 billion years old. Black silk-gloss 22-inch Exclusive Design Sport wheels reference the dark streaks of the famous Wave Rock formation. The vehicle is equipped with an Off-Road package suited to remote environments, while Bordeaux Red interior highlights recall the deep red tones of the Australian outback. The Mojave Beige compass display evokes the sand of Cable Beach near Broome.

Each car showcases Porsche’s individualisation capabilities. In addition to elements from Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur, the vehicles include Sonderwunsch details such as vehicle keys painted to match the exterior colour with “75 Years of Porsche in Australia” branding, illuminated door sill guards marked with the respective cardinal direction, and personalised interior floor mats.

The story of Porsche in Australia began in 1951 with an unexpected encounter. Australian entrepreneur Norman McKinnon Hamilton was travelling across Austria’s Grossglockner Pass when his car was overtaken by a Porsche development vehicle driven by German racing driver and Porsche test driver Richard von Frankenberg. The two later met at an inn along the route, and von Frankenberg introduced Hamilton to Ferry Porsche.

That meeting ultimately led to Hamilton securing the rights to sell Porsche cars in Australia and New Zealand. Later that year two Porsche 356 models were shipped to Melbourne and publicly presented on 1 November 1951 at South Melbourne Town Hall. From that moment the brand’s history in Australia began — a history now symbolically reflected in four cars inspired by the landscapes of the continent.
