Lexus reports updates to the 2026 Lexus IS sports sedan, including design revisions, IS 350 specifications, new interior features and Lexus Safety System+ 3.0.

The Lexus IS, a compact sports sedan that has remained a core part of the brand’s lineup for more than 25 years, receives updates for the 2026 model year. The latest version continues the formula that helped define the model — a balance between dynamic performance and premium comfort — while introducing several refinements in design, technology and driving feel.

For 2026 the lineup centers on a single powertrain configuration, the IS 350, offered in two grades: F SPORT and F SPORT Design. The update follows Lexus’ philosophy of refining both performance and styling, aiming to further develop the driving character associated with the brand.

Visually, the sedan adopts a refreshed front appearance that emphasizes a lower and more athletic stance. F SPORT versions can be equipped with a rear spoiler and red brake calipers to underline their performance-oriented character. The exterior color palette also introduces a new shade called Wind, a metallic light gray designed to convey motion even when the vehicle is standing still.

Inside the cabin, the driver-focused layout is built around a pair of 12.3-inch digital displays. The Lexus Interface infotainment system works alongside a digital instrument cluster to provide a clear and intuitive command center for the driver.

The interior design also introduces a decorative element known as Forged Bamboo, created using the traditional “In-ei” shading technique that produces subtle contrasts of light and shadow. In F SPORT models, the cabin can be finished in the bold Radiant Red interior theme, reinforcing the sporty atmosphere of the cockpit.

Sound quality is another focus of the cabin experience. A 10-speaker Lexus Premium Sound system comes standard, while an optional 17-speaker Mark Levinson audio system is available for drivers seeking a more immersive listening environment.

Power continues to come from a naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6 engine producing 311 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. Depending on configuration, the sedan is available with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Rear-wheel-drive models use an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the all-wheel-drive version is paired with a six-speed automatic.

Performance remains in line with the expectations of a sports sedan. Acceleration from 0 to 60 mph takes about 5.6 seconds, and the top speed is approximately 230 km/h. The chassis combines a double-wishbone front suspension with a multilink rear setup, a layout commonly associated with balanced handling and ride comfort.

To mark the 2026 model year, Lexus also introduces a limited Special Appearance Package for the IS 350 F SPORT. Production is restricted to 350 units for North America. These cars feature a distinctive Hakugin Matte White exterior, 19-inch black BBS forged alloy wheels, triple-beam LED headlamps and additional premium equipment.

Safety technology remains a central element of the model. Every 2026 Lexus IS comes standard with Lexus Safety System+ 3.0, which integrates a range of driver-assistance features. The suite includes a Pre-Collision System with pedestrian detection, full-speed adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping support, automatic high beams, road sign recognition and Proactive Driving Assist.

Since its debut in 1998, the Lexus IS has evolved as a compact rear-wheel-drive sports sedan designed to compete with models such as the BMW 3 Series and Audi A4. The 2026 update suggests the model continues to play an important role within the Lexus lineup, combining traditional naturally aspirated performance with modern digital technology and driver-assistance systems.
