An auction on the Bring a Trailer platform is currently featuring a late-1980s Ferrari sports car: a 1988.5 Ferrari 328 GTS showing approximately 9,000 miles. At the time of publication, bidding had reached $140,000, with the auction still ongoing.

The car is one of roughly 6,068 examples of the removable-roof 328 GTS produced during the model’s run. Ferrari built the 328 between 1985 and 1989 as the successor to the Ferrari 308, placing it firmly within the brand’s line of mid-engine V8 road cars of the era.

This particular example is finished in Argento Nurburgring Metallizzato and features blue leather upholstery. The body was designed by Pininfarina, and the silver metallic paint highlights the sculpted lines of the 328’s design, including its flowing wheel arches, side air intakes, and wedge-shaped silhouette typical of Italian sports cars from the period. The GTS configuration adds a removable roof panel, allowing the car to be driven in a targa-style open configuration.

Power comes from a 3.2-liter V8 equipped with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and four valves per cylinder. Factory output was rated at around 260 horsepower. The mid-mounted engine is paired with a five-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential that delivers power to the rear wheels.

The car rides on staggered 16-inch Speedline alloy wheels and features ventilated disc brakes at all four corners. Inside, the cockpit retains classic Ferrari elements, including a gated manual shifter, Veglia instrumentation with a 180-mph speedometer and a 10,000-rpm tachometer, as well as gauges for oil pressure and coolant temperature. Additional equipment includes a Blaupunkt cassette stereo, power windows, and a rear-window defroster.

According to the seller, the Ferrari was acquired in 2023. The sale includes a Ferrari Certificate of Origin, the owner’s manual, a tool kit, and partial service records. A Carfax report is said to be free of reported accidents or other damage.

The listing also notes several imperfections. The driver’s seat shows visible wear, and the air-conditioning system is reported to be inoperative. In addition, the Florida title is listed as a duplicate.

Today the Ferrari 328 is widely regarded as one of the defining models of the brand’s 1980s era.
