Bring a Trailer lists a 1955 EMW 327 Sport Cabriolet built at the former BMW plant in Eisenach, a rare postwar continuation of the pre-war BMW 327 design.

Mercedes-Benz has announced a recall affecting a limited number of 2026 GLA 250 crossovers in the United States after identifying a potential issue with the internal door release mechanism.

The campaign involves just ten vehicles. According to the manufacturer, the problem may be linked to the installation of the Bowden cable used in the interior door handle assembly. During production the cable may have been secured incorrectly, which means it could detach over time. If that occurs, the interior handle may fail to activate the locking mechanism, preventing the door from opening from inside the vehicle.

This scenario is considered particularly concerning in emergency situations, when passengers must exit the vehicle quickly. Complicating matters further, the system provides no warning messages on the instrument panel, so drivers would receive no alert indicating that the mechanism might malfunction.

The issue was first discovered in July 2025 during a pre-sale inspection conducted outside the United States. After the discovery, engineers at Mercedes-Benz AG reviewed the production process and concluded that a mounting error could have occurred within a limited batch of vehicles.

By January 2026 the company determined that the possibility of the cable detaching during the vehicle’s service life could not be completely ruled out. As a result, Mercedes-Benz decided to initiate an official recall on February 27.

The affected crossovers were produced over a very short period — June 30 and July 1, 2025. According to the manufacturer, no warranty claims, accidents, or injuries related to the issue have been reported in the United States.

As part of the recall campaign, authorized dealers will inspect the installation of the Bowden cable in the door release mechanism and secure it according to factory specifications if necessary.

Owners of the affected vehicles are expected to receive notification letters by early May 2026. VIN numbers will be available for verification starting in mid-March.

Although the recall covers only ten vehicles, Mercedes-Benz has chosen to proceed with a formal safety campaign, emphasizing that any potential risk connected with a door mechanism failure must be addressed without exception.
