Honda Accord, Passport and Ridgeline named Best Cars for Families by U.S. News
U.S. News & World Report named the 2026 Honda Accord, Accord Hybrid, Passport and Ridgeline among its Best Cars for Families, recognizing safety, space and family features.
Four Honda models for the 2026 model year have received “Best Cars for Families” awards from U.S. News & World Report. In the annual ranking, which evaluates vehicles based on their practicality and convenience for family life, the winners include the Honda Accord, Accord Hybrid, Passport and Ridgeline, each recognized in its respective category.
The Accord once again confirmed its position as one of the most versatile midsize sedans on the market. The turbocharged version earned the title of Best Midsize Car for Families for the fifth time. Its hybrid counterpart also secured recognition, winning the Best Hybrid Car for Families award for the third time.
Among SUVs, the Honda Passport stood out. The two-row midsize SUV claimed the title of Best Two-Row Midsize SUV for Families, marking its fifth victory in this category. The model is known for its spacious interior, large cargo area and capability beyond city driving. Passport is equipped with a 285-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine, the i-VTM4 all-wheel-drive system and a towing capacity of up to 5,000 pounds. Inside, the SUV offers modern connectivity features including Google built-in services, Wi-Fi hotspot capability and wireless smartphone integration.
The fourth award went to the Honda Ridgeline, named Best Midsize Pickup Truck for Families. The recognition is particularly notable as the category itself is relatively new in the ranking. Ridgeline combines the practicality of a pickup with passenger-car comfort. Its unibody construction contributes to smoother ride quality, while features such as the dual-action tailgate and the lockable 7.3-cubic-foot in-bed trunk add everyday versatility.
The U.S. News “Best Cars for Families” awards highlight vehicles that achieve the best balance of safety, reliability, interior space, comfort and family-oriented technology. Editors evaluate each vehicle using its overall score in the U.S. News Best Car Rankings along with safety ratings, predicted reliability, passenger and cargo room, and the availability of family-friendly features such as driver-assistance systems and connectivity functions.
For the 2026 edition, the awards expanded to 14 categories, reflecting the growing diversity of the automotive market, from hybrid and electric vehicles to multiple SUV and pickup segments.
For Honda, the results continue a long record of success in this ranking. Since the Best Cars for Families awards were introduced in 2011, the brand has remained the most decorated automaker in the program. In total, Honda vehicles have earned 43 awards, and at least one Honda model has won in the ranking every year since its inception.
