2021 McLaren GT Reappears on Bring a Trailer Auction

A 2021 McLaren GT with 21k miles returns to Bring a Trailer after a previous sale failed due to a title issue. The twin-turbo V8 grand tourer is now back at auction.

At the Bring a Trailer auction platform, a 2021 McLaren GT has appeared once again — a car that already passed through the same marketplace but failed to change ownership due to an unexpected bureaucratic issue. The previous sale took place in December 2025 and ended with a winning bid of $122,505, yet the transaction was never completed because the vehicle title listed an incorrect manufacturer designation. The document has now been corrected, and the car has returned to the auction block.

This example has been registered in Texas since new and shows about 21,000 miles. The body is originally finished in white but is fully covered with an orange wrap, giving the supercar a far more striking look than the standard configuration of the model. Inside, the cabin combines black leather and Alcantara with Barolo accents. Equipment includes a Bowers & Wilkins audio system, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment display with navigation, dual-zone climate control, and cruise control.

The McLaren GT belongs to a category of vehicles the company designed as a more practical alternative to traditional supercars. Even so, the engineering remains typical of the brand: a mid-engine layout, the carbon-fiber MonoCell II-T chassis, and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Power comes from the twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter M840T V8. Factory output is rated at around 612 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque, enabling the car to accelerate to 100 km/h in roughly 3.2 seconds and reach a top speed of about 326 km/h.

Part of the appeal of this particular example lies in its extensive service history. According to the seller, more than $82,000 has been invested in maintenance and upgrades over the past two years. In April 2024 the car received Renaissance Speed radiators and intercoolers, a billet oil console from the same company, and new ignition coils and spark plugs, along with several cooling-system components. The gearbox and clutch were serviced at the same time, and the brake calipers were refinished.

A second major service followed in June 2025. That work included replacing brake pads, servicing suspension components, addressing cooling-system and turbo-related leaks, replacing the rear main seal, installing a new clutch filter, and resolving several additional mechanical issues. Seat-control modules were replaced, interior elements were updated, and the vehicle’s electronic systems were inspected and recalibrated.

From a technical standpoint, the McLaren GT occupies a distinctive place within the brand’s lineup. Unlike many traditional grand tourers that rely on a front-engine layout, the GT retains the mid-engine architecture and carbon-fiber structure associated with McLaren’s supercars. At the same time, the car offers roughly 570 liters of luggage capacity, enough space for items such as a golf bag or long skis — an unusual capability for a vehicle with this configuration.

That balance between supercar performance and greater practicality formed the core idea behind the model. When McLaren introduced the GT, the company effectively attempted to rethink the grand-touring formula: maintaining the lightness and speed typical of its sports cars while making the vehicle more suitable for long-distance travel.

The ongoing auction has already attracted considerable attention. With several days remaining before the close, the bidding has reached $111,111, and hundreds of watchers are following the listing. Considering the previous sale price and the extensive recent servicing, the final result may offer an interesting indication of how the market values a car that blends supercar engineering with grand-touring usability.
