Porsche reported that its Leipzig plant built two special models, Panamera 4 E-Hybrid and Macan 4S, created for the 75 years of Porsche in Australia celebration.

To mark 75 years of Porsche in Australia, the company has created a special series of vehicles inspired by the landscapes of the continent. Two of them — the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid and the fully electric Macan 4S — were built at Porsche’s Leipzig plant and form part of an anniversary programme presented during the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix.

The two Leipzig-built cars belong to a quartet of bespoke models developed by Porsche Cars Australia together with the Sonderwunsch individualisation programme. Each vehicle symbolically represents one direction of the Australian continent — north, south, east and west — translating the character of these regions into colours, materials and design details.

The Macan 4S, carrying the theme “Go South”, draws inspiration from Australia’s southern coastline. Its body is finished in Goldbronze Metallic, a Paint-to-Sample colour, while interior details reference coastal geology and limestone formations. The concept reflects elements of ocean life and surf culture, combining sandy tones with maritime hues to evoke the energy of Australia’s southern shores.

The Panamera 4 E-Hybrid, by contrast, looks towards the tropical north of the continent. The “Go North” model is painted in Emerald Green Metallic and takes inspiration from the landscapes of northern Australia. Interior elements reference the natural richness of Daintree Rainforest and Kakadu National Park, bringing together long-distance comfort with visual cues drawn from one of the most biodiverse regions of the country.

The anniversary line-up is completed by two further models: a Cayenne S inspired by the landscapes of western Australia and a Taycan 4S Cross Turismo referencing the surf coast of the east. All four vehicles were developed by Porsche Cars Australia, and customers can order the cars in exactly these specifications.

For the Porsche Leipzig plant, participation in the anniversary project also highlights its manufacturing capabilities. Opened in 2000, the site today produces the Panamera and the new generation of the all-electric Macan and represents one of Porsche’s key production locations. A distinctive feature of the facility is its ability to assemble vehicles with three different powertrain concepts — combustion, hybrid and fully electric — on a single production line.

The final touches for the anniversary vehicles were completed by Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur, the brand’s in-house personalisation division. Bespoke elements include colour-matched vehicle keys, illuminated door sills and individually designed trim details.

The connection between Porsche and Australia dates back more than seven decades. The story began in 1951, when entrepreneur Norman Hamilton arranged the import of Porsche cars after meeting representatives of the brand in Europe. Australia soon became one of Porsche’s earliest export markets and the company’s first right-hand-drive market.

Through colour, design and symbolism, the anniversary cars reflect that long relationship. At the same time, they illustrate how individualisation has become an integral part of Porsche’s modern production process.
