New Mercedes-Maybach S-Class debuts with MB.OS and updated engines
Mercedes-Benz presents the new Maybach S-Class with MB.OS, updated engines and expanded personalization. Explore key changes and features of the flagship sedan.
The new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class arrives as the most extensive update in the model’s history, going far beyond a traditional facelift. Orders open in the first European markets on March 25, 2026, with production beginning in April at the Sindelfingen plant, including the highly advanced Factory 56 facility.
The transformation is not limited to design. For the first time, a Maybach model features MB.OS, Mercedes-Benz’s new operating system that connects core vehicle domains and enables over-the-air updates. Alongside it debuts the fourth-generation MBUX system, introducing an AI-based virtual assistant and a redesigned interface, marking a significant digital shift for the flagship sedan.
This shift reflects a broader strategy. Mercedes-Benz positions the updated S-Class as a cornerstone of its top-end segment and a key element of its largest product offensive. Corporate materials highlight new powertrains, MB.OS integration, and advanced driver assistance systems such as MB.DRIVE ASSIST PRO, designed to support smoother point-to-point driving, particularly in urban environments.
The powertrain lineup has been comprehensively revised. Updated V8 engines and an enhanced inline-six plug-in hybrid are introduced, while the V12 remains available in selected markets. The S 580 e offers an electric range of around 100 kilometers, and all engines are prepared for future emissions standards. The revised AIRMATIC suspension now uses Car-to-X data to anticipate road conditions and adapt accordingly.
Exterior updates reinforce the model’s presence. The signature grille is now 20 percent larger and illuminated, while lighting elements gain more intricate detailing. New paint options, including Nautic Blue metallic, and refined design accents underline the brand’s approach to understated exclusivity.
Inside, the focus remains on comfort and isolation. The redesigned interior enhances the Maybach “cocooning” effect with a new center console, upgraded rear passenger features, and, for the first time, a leather-free interior option. Rear-seat passengers benefit from advanced displays and dedicated controls, reinforcing the car’s chauffeur-driven character.
Personalization plays a central role. Through MANUFAKTUR and Made to Measure, customers can choose from over 150 exterior colors and more than 400 interior options, allowing each vehicle to be configured as a highly individual product.
The model’s debut also aligns with a broader milestone. In 2026, Mercedes-Benz marks 140 years since the invention of the automobile, using the new S-Class as a symbol of its technological evolution, including a global journey spanning 140 destinations.
Pricing has not yet been officially announced. According to available information, details are expected closer to market launch, with deliveries rolling out progressively after the initial European introduction.
