Bentley EXP 15 Concept Reimagines Blue Train Heritage for Electric Future
Bentley reveals EXP 15 concept: inspired by the 1930 Blue Train, blending classic elegance and modern electric vision. Discover the design and future hints.
Bentley has unveiled the EXP 15 concept — a bold statement of what a luxurious Grand Tourer could become in the electric age. Inspired by the legendary 1930 Bentley Speed Six “Blue Train”, the concept stays rooted in the brand’s rich heritage while pushing design and technology into new territory.
The iconic image of the historic Gurney Nutting coupe, linked to chairman Woolf Barnato’s famous race against the Le Train Bleu, set the tone for the project. Just like back then, the designers focus on dynamics and style, but now blend these with modern demands for sustainability and digital experiences.
The EXP 15 is not a production car but rather a showcase of ideas. Its full-size exterior and virtual interior highlight Bentley’s five key design principles for the future. These include the instantly recognisable upright grille, a long endless bonnet and distinctive muscular rear haunches. Active aerodynamics — twin deployable spoilers and a rear diffuser — reinforce its technical ambition.
Materials take centre stage. Traditional British weavers Fox Brothers supplied a 100% wool fabric with a damson ombre effect, while Gainsborough contributed fine jacquard details, merging heritage and innovation inside the cabin. The three-seat layout surprises with its flexibility: a swivelling passenger seat and clever storage for hand luggage or even pets within the cabin space.
Technical specifications remain under wraps. What is confirmed is an all-electric, all-wheel drive setup, with an expected range of 300–350 miles — in line with Bentley’s commitment to long-range grand touring.
For many, the EXP 15 hints at what’s to come. Bentley’s first fully electric production car will be revealed in 2026. Interestingly, the EXP 15’s debut comes just as Bentley presented its redesigned Winged B emblem — the fifth version in 106 years — symbolising the brand’s careful balance of tradition and innovation as it steps confidently into a new era.
