Hyundai Motor reported 21 wins at iF Design Award 2026 across vehicle, UX and branding categories. See key projects and what this result signals for the company.

Hyundai Motor secured 21 awards at the iF Design Award 2026, surpassing its previous-year result and marking one of the strongest performances among global automakers. The scale of recognition extends far beyond vehicles, covering software, architecture, user experience and even media projects — from electric cars to a short film.

Key wins came across multiple areas. In automotive design, the spotlight fell on the IONIQ 6 N, a high-performance electric sedan focused on track capabilities and aerodynamics, and the compact Concept THREE, which advances the “Art of Steel” design language in a smaller EV format. At the same time, Hyundai was recognized for the MobED robotic platform, capable of multidirectional movement and adapting to uneven terrain through independent wheel control and active posture stabilization.

This result goes beyond a collection of awards. It reflects how Hyundai is increasingly evaluated not just as a car manufacturer, but as a company operating across multiple domains — from mobility design to digital services and user experience. The distribution of awards across categories such as Product Design, Branding, UX and Interior Architecture reinforces that shift.

Several standout projects come from outside traditional automotive boundaries. The short film “Night Fishing”, produced as a cinematic experience rather than conventional advertising, received two awards. The HMGICS CX Smart Farm in Singapore also earned two recognitions, presenting an interactive “seed-to-table” journey where visitors engage with robot-assisted agriculture. The project is part of the broader Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center Singapore, which combines manufacturing, digital systems and customer experience.

In parallel, Hyundai’s software direction gained visibility. The Pleos brand, introduced as an integrated mobility software platform, was also awarded. It connects vehicle operating systems, cloud services and app ecosystems, with plans for deployment across millions of vehicles by 2030.

Environmental and social initiatives also played a role. The Tree Correspondents campaign, linked to the IONIQ Forest program, uses sensors and AI to translate ecological data from trees into narrative form. Over ten years, the initiative has resulted in around one million trees planted across 13 countries, highlighting Hyundai’s long-term sustainability efforts.

The portfolio is further expanded by projects in spatial design and culture. The Na Oh restaurant in Singapore, built around a “seed-to-table” concept and supplied by the smart farm, received recognition for both its interior and an accompanying publication documenting its philosophy.

The broader context underscores the significance of these results. The iF Design Award, established in the 1950s, attracts thousands of entries annually — more than 10,000 submissions in 2026 alone. Winners are selected by international experts in design and sustainability, making the outcome a strong indicator of global design trends.

Hyundai’s trajectory over recent years shows steady momentum: around 19 awards in 2023, more than 20 in 2024, 18 in 2025, and now 21 in 2026. The growth is not only quantitative but also reflects an expanding scope — from vehicles to robotics, software platforms and immersive user experiences.

These results align with Hyundai’s broader strategy as a Smart Mobility Solution Provider. The company is investing in electric vehicles, hydrogen technologies, robotics and advanced air mobility, while integrating design across physical products and digital ecosystems. The 2026 awards demonstrate how this strategy is increasingly materializing in real-world projects and services.

As a result, the iF Design Award 2026 recognition represents more than a list of achievements — it captures Hyundai’s ongoing transformation into a company shaping a wider mobility and technology ecosystem.
