Bentley Mulliner Introduces New Finishes and Materials for Bespoke Cars
Bentley Mulliner updates its Personal Commissioning Guide with new veneers, carbon fibre tints, and luxury finishes, enhancing customisation for Continental GT, Flying Spur, and Bentayga.
Bentley has introduced an expanded Mulliner Personal Commissioning Guide, opening up new possibilities for personalizing the Continental GT, Flying Spur, and Bentayga models. Already chosen by three out of four Bentley customers, Mulliner now offers an even broader range of materials and finishes, making it easier than ever to create a truly bespoke grand tourer.
The highlight of the update is the addition of open-pore wood veneers coated with an ultra-thin matte lacquer. This finish preserves the natural texture and warmth of the wood while using 90% less lacquer than traditional high-gloss options. Among the new selections are the rare Vavona wood and the contemporary Liquid Amber. For a more technical aesthetic, Mulliner now offers four tinted carbon fibre finishes – Damson, Kingfisher Blue, Imperial Blue, and Cumbrian Green – which showcase the weave pattern and harmonize with the chosen cabin palette.
For even greater individuality, customers can select Piano Gloss veneers available in over 100 shades, complemented by hand-painted pinstripes running across the fascia and into the door panels. Inspired by luxury yacht decking, the updated console veneers can be specified with straight or chevron pinstripes and matched to any of Bentley’s exterior colours. Another striking detail is the new “Wave” metal finish for the centre console, where interwoven ribbons create a rippling effect that reflects light beautifully.
The customization extends further with natural Tweed fabric door inserts available in five patterns, and anodized Bang & Olufsen speaker grilles offered in eight colours, including new additions such as Kingfisher, Mandarin, and Pillar Box Red. To celebrate Bentley’s heritage, customers can also choose tactile 18k gold organ-stop air vent controls.
The latest commissioning guides feature “Designer Suggestions” – nine carefully curated specifications created by the Mulliner design team to inspire and guide owners through the vast selection of options. With the rapid growth of bespoke commissions in recent years, Bentley is likely to continue expanding personalization choices. Mulliner remains one of the few automotive divisions capable of transforming a car into a truly one-of-a-kind masterpiece while maintaining Bentley’s renowned blend of luxury and performance.
This rising trend of ultra-luxury customization is mirrored by other premium brands. Range Rover recently introduced its SV Bespoke service for the Sport model, offering 230 exterior colours, unique interior materials, and a special Nocturne edition featuring a 635 hp V8 engine. The model made its debut at Range Rover House in Mykonos during a private event, underlining the brand’s commitment to personalized luxury experiences.
