Audi MediaCenter presents the new Audi A6 with PPC platform, MHEV plus system and plug-in hybrids offering over 100 km electric range. Explore key updates and features.

Audi A6 enters its sixth generation with a clear technological shift: the model now rides on the new PPC platform and introduces extended hybridization, including plug-in versions with an electric range exceeding 100 kilometers. This marks one of the most significant updates in the history of the lineup, which dates back to 1994.

The foundation of this transformation is the Premium Platform Combustion (PPC). It replaces the previous architecture and is designed to integrate hybrid systems more deeply. The platform supports quattro all-wheel drive, all-wheel steering, and adaptive air suspension, while also introducing the new E³ 1.2 electronic architecture for digital features and software updates.

Petrol and diesel engines are now paired with the MHEV plus system. It combines a 48-volt battery, a belt alternator starter, and an additional electric motor. This setup enables partial electric driving at low speeds, energy recuperation of up to 25 kW, and an electric boost of up to 18 kW and 230 Nm. It also allows coasting with the engine off and powers auxiliary systems independently of the combustion engine.

Plug-in hybrids play a central role in the new lineup, including the A6 Sedan e-hybrid quattro and A6 Avant e-hybrid quattro. Equipped with a battery of around 25.9 kWh, they offer an electric range of over 100 km (WLTP). AC charging at up to 11 kW enables a full charge in approximately 2.5 hours. Compared to the previous generation, battery capacity has increased by about 45%.

The digital environment has also been significantly upgraded. The cabin features three displays: an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.5-inch central touchscreen, and an optional passenger display. The infotainment system supports advanced connectivity and digital services. New lighting technologies, including second-generation OLED, and enhanced driver assistance systems further define the update.

Aerodynamics have been improved as well, with a drag coefficient reduced to as low as 0.25. The Avant has grown in length, increasing interior space while maintaining practicality, with a cargo capacity of up to 1532 liters.

The new generation launched in 2025, with the Avant debuting in March followed by the sedan in April. Deliveries began at the end of May.

The new Audi A6 develops alongside the fully electric A6 e-tron but remains focused on combustion and hybrid powertrains. This parallel strategy reflects Audi’s approach to offering both electrified and traditional drivetrains for different use cases.
