Volkswagen is taking a bold step forward in the evolution of its electric minivan lineup, unveiling significant updates for the ID. Buzz. The model now comes in several new variants, including the high-performance GTX and the more affordable Freestyle edition.

The highlight of the updated lineup is the Volkswagen ID. Buzz GTX, a powerful all-wheel-drive minivan boasting 250 kW (340 hp) and a towing capacity of up to 1,800 kg. Designed for those who demand both style and capability, the GTX variant adds a new level of versatility to the electric minivan segment.

For buyers seeking a more budget-friendly option, Volkswagen has introduced the ID. Buzz Freestyle. This version features a 59 kWh battery and an estimated range of around 330 kilometers. With a starting price below €50,000, it presents an attractive entry point for a broader audience.

On the commercial side, Volkswagen is expanding its offerings with the ID. Buzz Cargo 4MOTION. Equipped with a 79 kWh battery, it offers an extended range of up to 432 kilometers, making it a compelling choice for businesses aiming for sustainable transport solutions.

The new ID. Buzz models will be available across various markets. In Europe, both passenger and commercial versions are already on sale, with prices starting at €52,135 for the Cargo variant. In the U.S., the Pro S and Pro S Plus trims start at $59,995, while Canada sees the launch of a limited 1st Edition, beginning at $77,495.

Positioned within the electric minivan segment, the ID. Buzz competes with models like the Chrysler Pacifica, Toyota Sienna, and Honda Odyssey. What sets the Volkswagen apart is its fully electric powertrain and a design that pays homage to the classic Microbus, making it a unique offering in the market.

The ID. Buzz stays true to its roots, drawing inspiration from the iconic Volkswagen Type 2 (T1) Microbus of the 1950s. The V-shaped hood, large VW logo, panoramic windows, and retro-style vents on the rear pillars blend nostalgia with modern technology. Meanwhile, an optimized aerodynamic coefficient of 0.29 enhances the vehicle’s efficiency.

The expansion of the ID. Buzz lineup is part of Volkswagen’s broader strategy to dominate the EV segment. The automaker has already announced plans to introduce ten new electric models by 2026, including the budget-friendly ID.2all, expected to be priced at around €20,000. Additionally, Volkswagen is considering launching ID. Buzz production in Indonesia by 2026, signaling its commitment to global expansion.

With these updates, the Volkswagen ID. Buzz emerges as more than just a modern reimagining of an iconic van. It stands as a key player in the electric vehicle revolution, combining style, practicality, and cutting-edge technology for a new generation of drivers.
