Volkswagen has unveiled the new generation of its successful T-Roc, a compact SUV that has already sold more than two million units worldwide. The exterior immediately shows the change: the body is now 12 cm longer, giving the car more dynamic proportions and creating additional space for passengers and luggage, with capacity increasing to 475 liters. Lighting design plays a central role with standard LED headlights and optional IQ.LIGHT matrix technology, connected to an illuminated VW badge. At the rear, a continuous LED strip with a red-lit logo makes its debut.

Inside, the cabin has been significantly upgraded. Soft-touch materials cover the dashboard, a new infotainment screen of up to 13 inches dominates the center, and ambient lighting creates a lounge-like atmosphere. A head-up display and the latest driving experience control, which manages drive modes and volume, mark features previously seen in larger models such as the Tiguan and Tayron.

Built on the MQB evo platform, the new T-Roc inherits technologies from Volkswagen’s latest SUVs. Travel Assist now supports lane changes, Park Assist Pro remembers up to 50 meters for fully automatic parking, and smartphone integration allows remote parking. Safety is boosted with an exit warning system that alerts occupants if cars or cyclists approach from behind.

At launch, the lineup includes two 48V mild hybrid 1.5 eTSI engines with 116 and 150 PS, both paired with a 7-speed DSG. Two full hybrid versions and a 2.0 TSI with all-wheel drive will follow, along with a high-performance T-Roc R. In Germany, prices start at €30,845, with pre-sales beginning in late August and the market launch scheduled for November.

Volkswagen has also confirmed that a fully electric T-Roc is in the pipeline. It will be produced at the Wolfsburg plant on the new SSP architecture, with a market introduction expected later in the decade. This announcement underscores the brand’s electrification strategy.

Meanwhile, the current T-Roc continues to roll off the line at Volkswagen’s Autoeuropa plant in Palmela, Portugal. The factory produced 236,000 vehicles in 2024 and aims to reach around 1,000 cars per day. It is also preparing for future EV production, reinforcing its role as a key site in Volkswagen’s European network.

For now, attention is focused on the launch of the new model. German and British outlets have published first-look reviews, praising the increased dimensions, improved interior quality, and the leap in technology. Full road tests are still to come, but the direction is clear: the new T-Roc is set to remain one of Europe’s most popular compact SUVs.
