CUPRA presents the Raval electric car through a multi-city European launch with concerts and events. Explore how the debut unfolded and what it means for urban EVs.

CUPRA introduced its new electric model, the Raval, not through a single-stage presentation but through a coordinated European rollout, unveiling the car simultaneously across 12 cities and combining an official reveal with urban events and live performances.

The premiere began in Barcelona, the city where the car was developed and where it will be produced at the Martorell plant. The first unveiling took place there with the participation of company executives and public officials, highlighting the model’s importance not only for the brand but also for the region’s industrial strategy. The Raval is the first CUPRA electric vehicle manufactured at this site and marks the starting point for a new family of accessible urban electric cars within the Volkswagen Group.

The launch then moved into public space. On the same day, the reveal expanded across Europe — from Madrid and Paris to Berlin and Manchester. In six cities, the format extended beyond the automotive sphere: concerts took place in open urban locations, with artists performing on the roof of the car itself, effectively turning the vehicle into a stage. In other cities, the model was presented through local events and CUPRA City Garages, creating a decentralised launch in which the city became part of the presentation.

This approach reflects the identity of the model. The name Raval refers to a district in Barcelona known for its creative and urban culture, and that concept runs throughout the campaign — from the choice of locations to collaborations with artists and brands. In Paris, a limited run of 500 units created with the streetwear label AVNIER was unveiled, while in Barcelona and Madrid visitors could personalise items from the CUPRA Collection.

The car itself plays a central role in the brand’s strategy. The CUPRA Raval is a compact electric hatchback, around four metres long, designed for urban use. It is built on the MEB+ platform, an updated Volkswagen Group architecture aimed at improving efficiency while reducing costs for mass-market electric vehicles.

Depending on the version, the model is equipped with electric motors delivering up to 226 hp and battery capacities of up to 52 kWh. The maximum driving range is stated at around 450 kilometres, while entry-level versions use smaller batteries with shorter range to maintain a lower price point. Fast charging allows the battery to be replenished from 10 to 80 percent in roughly 20 to 25 minutes, depending on conditions.

The launch lineup includes several versions such as Dynamic, Dynamic Plus and the more powerful VZ variant. These differ in performance and equipment but share a focus on combining compact dimensions with everyday usability and a sporty character. Inside, the car features CUPRA sports seats, elements with 3D knitting and light projections integrated into the door panels, reinforcing a digital and immersive cabin environment.

The starting price is set at around €26,000, placing the Raval in the growing segment of affordable urban electric vehicles. Within the broader context, it is the first model of the Electric Urban Car Family, a Volkswagen Group project that will bring multiple compact EVs from different brands to market, with CUPRA leading the initial rollout.

Sales are expected to begin this summer. The launch makes clear that the strategy goes beyond specifications, focusing equally on how the car connects with audiences — through culture, city environments and a presentation format that moves away from traditional automotive reveals.
