U.S. News & World Report names Honda Accord, Accord Hybrid, Passport and Ridgeline among the 2026 Best Cars for Families. Explore key details and rankings.

Four Honda models — the 2026 Accord, Accord Hybrid, Passport and Ridgeline — were all named best family cars in their respective classes by U.S. News & World Report. The result stands out not just for the number of awards, but for what it signals: the brand continues to dominate in a segment where safety, practicality and everyday usability matter most.

Each model secured the top position in its category. The Accord earned its fifth win as Best Midsize Car for Families, while the Accord Hybrid took the title in the midsize hybrid class for the third time. The Passport repeated its success as Best Two-Row Midsize SUV for Families, also for the fifth time. Meanwhile, the Ridgeline became the first-ever winner in the newly introduced midsize pickup truck category, added in 2026 as part of an expanded list of fourteen segments.

This recognition is based on a comprehensive evaluation rather than a single standout feature. U.S. News combines overall vehicle rankings with safety scores, predicted reliability, interior and cargo space, and the availability of family-focused features. The vehicle with the highest combined score in each class is selected, highlighting balance as the key factor.

Each of the winning models brings its own strengths. The Accord and Accord Hybrid stand out for their efficiency, advanced technology and spacious interiors, including modern infotainment systems and the Honda Sensing suite of driver-assist features. The Passport focuses on versatility, offering all-wheel drive, increased ground clearance and substantial cargo capacity. The Ridgeline delivers a different take on the pickup formula, combining SUV-like comfort with practical solutions such as an in-bed trunk and flexible rear seating.

The broader context reinforces the significance of these results. Honda now holds a total of 43 Best Cars for Families awards, more than any other brand, and has earned at least one title every year since the program began in 2011. This consistency reflects a long-term approach to building vehicles aimed at mainstream family use.

Electrification adds another layer to the story. In 2025, nearly one-third of Honda’s total sales came from electrified models, and hybrid versions of the Accord alone accounted for more than half of its sales. The recognition of the Accord Hybrid suggests that electrified options are becoming a core choice for family buyers rather than a niche alternative.
