This example is powered by a naturally aspirated 4.6-liter V8 paired with two electric motors, delivering a combined output of 887 horsepower. With all-wheel drive, a seven-speed PDK transmission, and a carbon-fiber monocoque, the 918 Spyder represented one of the most advanced production cars of its time. It could also operate in a fully electric mode, a rare capability among hypercars of the early 2010s.

The significance of the model goes far beyond its auction value.
