When a new car enters the market and immediately sparks excitement, it is hard to ignore. That is exactly what happened with the Chery Fulwin A9L — a flagship sedan that has already secured more than 51,000 pre-orders. The reasons are clear yet layered: strong technical specifications, attention to detail, and a starting price that surprised many — around $21,000 for the base version.

From the outset, the Fulwin A9L is positioned not only as a domestic product for China. Chery openly speaks about its global ambitions, emphasizing that the model was developed with international safety and technology standards in mind. Visually, it recalls the Luxeed S7, a result of Chery’s partnership with Huawei: smooth body lines, sharp lighting design, and aerodynamics with a drag coefficient of 0.23 Cd.

The technical foundation is equally striking. The car is built around the Kunpeng Super Hybrid CDM 6.0 system, combining a 1.5-liter engine with a hybrid transmission and electric motors. Depending on the version, output ranges from 374 to an impressive 639 horsepower. The top all-wheel-drive trim accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds, while the promised hybrid range exceeds 2,500 kilometers.

Comfort is another key focus. Inside, the design is minimalist yet modern: a large 15.6-inch central display, a digital instrument cluster, Huawei HiCar integration, and a head-up display. But the highlights are in the details: seats with a “weightlessness mode,” a panoramic roof, active noise cancellation, and a premium 23-speaker audio system. In higher trims, rear passengers also enjoy heated, massaging seats, and a future four-seat version promises an even more luxurious experience.

Safety is no less important. The body structure uses high-strength steels, nine airbags come standard, and advanced driver assistance features rely on lidar, radars, and multiple cameras — underlining Chery’s intention to be taken seriously in the global premium market.

The Fulwin A9L is not just another “Chinese sedan.” It is a deliberate challenge to the Japanese, German, and Korean brands that have long dominated this class. The car is only at the beginning of its journey, but one thing is already clear: it will force established players to take notice and possibly rethink the balance of power in the segment.
