FIAT reported a 25% rise in European sales for Q1 2026, driven by Panda models and Grande Panda. Explore key figures and market context.

FIAT opened 2026 with a sharp surge, reporting a 25% increase in vehicle registrations across Europe in the first quarter and reaching a 3.4% market share. Against a broader European market that showed weak or even declining performance at the start of the year, this result stands out clearly above the average trend.

The growth was driven by a combination of key models. In the city car segment, Pandina and the 500 delivered more than 45,000 sales, while in Italy the Pandina became the country’s best-selling car, surpassing 37,000 units since the beginning of the year. Together, these models give FIAT a commanding 57.6% share in the A-segment, effectively dominating the category.

Another major contributor is the Grande Panda. In the first three months of 2026, it exceeded 21,000 sales and already ranked as the third best-selling car in Italy. This is notable given that the Grande Panda is a new model built on the STLA Smart platform, marking FIAT’s move into the larger B-segment. The range includes a fully electric version with a 44 kWh battery and up to 199 miles of range, alongside hybrid and petrol variants, including a 100 hp turbo engine paired with a manual transmission.

Further growth is expected as the model expands both its lineup and geographic reach. A right-hand-drive version is set to launch in the UK, while the addition of a petrol option broadens its appeal beyond electric and hybrid buyers. The Grande Panda has also gained early recognition, winning the AUTOBEST CONQUEST Award 2026 for design, the Best Bargain title at the Top Gear Electric Vehicle Awards, and City Car of the Year in Portugal, reinforcing its positioning as an affordable and practical choice.

FIAT is also strengthening its presence in micromobility. The fully electric Topolino, classified as a light quadricycle, offers 6 kW of power, a top speed of 45 km/h and a range of around 75 km. It became Europe’s best-selling quadricycle in 2025 with a 20% market share and surpassed 3,000 units in the first quarter of 2026. New versions targeting younger users are expected later this year.

In the commercial vehicle segment, Fiat Professional delivered solid results as well. Its European market share rose to 7.4%, while in Italy it maintained leadership with a 25.6% share and over 12,000 registrations. Core models such as Ducato and Doblò continue to lead in their respective categories.

This combination of factors — strong growth despite a weak market, successful core models, and a fast rollout of new products — highlights FIAT’s strategy across multiple fronts: affordable city cars, versatile compact vehicles, and urban micromobility. The momentum is expected to continue into the second quarter as the brand expands its lineup and enters new markets.
