Alfa Romeo joined the Tutto Bene Hillclimb at Mottarone with the 1967 Tipo 33/2 Periscopica and the Giulia Quadrifoglio from 6 Underground, celebrating heritage and power.

Alfa Romeo took center stage at the second edition of the “Tutto Bene Hillclimb,” a curated parade of rare and iconic cars held on September 10 along the private Strada Borromea, from Gignese to the summit of Mottarone. Created by Milan-based design studio BorromeoDeSilva and Los Angeles agency Race Service, the event moves away from the classic concept of a timed hillclimb. With the motto “slow down to go fast”, it celebrates driving as a mindful and shared experience rather than a race against the clock.

This year, around eighty cars gathered, ranging from legendary Italian models to modern collector pieces. Alfa Romeo brought two flagships that perfectly embody its heritage and future: the 1967 Tipo 33/2 “Periscopica” — also known as “Fléron,” which made its debut victory at the Fléron hillclimb with test driver Teodoro Zeccoli — and the Giulia Quadrifoglio, the bright green star of Michael Bay’s 6 Underground that raced through Florence’s narrow streets on the big screen.

The Tipo 33/2, fitted with a 2-liter V8 producing about 270 hp and a magnesium tubular frame weighing just 580 kg, marked Alfa Romeo’s official return to international racing. The car went on to secure world championship titles in 1975 and 1977. Today, it is maintained by Scuderia del Portello, the official Alfa Romeo historic racing team founded in 1982, which keeps the brand’s heritage alive by competing at events like the Mille Miglia, Le Mans Classic, and Goodwood Festival of Speed — turning these machines into a “moving museum.”

The Giulia Quadrifoglio, with its twin-turbo V6 delivering over 500 hp, became one of the highlights of the parade. Its instantly recognizable screen presence and performance credentials added excitement to the event. For the first time, organizers opened part of the program to the public, suggesting that this once private gathering is evolving into a cultural landmark for the Lake Maggiore region. While attendance figures remain undisclosed, the growing interest shows that the event resonates with enthusiasts and offers Alfa Romeo a stage to showcase the timeless relevance of its sporting DNA.
