Maserati dominates debut of Anantara Concorso Roma
Maserati led the first Anantara Concorso Roma 2026, winning Best of Show and showcasing historic and modern cars. Explore key highlights from the Rome event.
Maserati took center stage at the inaugural Anantara Concorso Roma, with the brand securing the Best of Show award through a rare 1932 Maserati V4 Sport Zagato. The victory highlighted the marque’s dominance at a debut event that gathered around 70 historic Italian cars.
The concours took place in Rome from April 16 to 19, 2026, introducing a new entry to the global concours d’elegance calendar. Its defining feature is a focus exclusively on Italian automobiles, combined with the setting of Rome’s architecture, hospitality, and culinary culture. Displays were spread across Villa Borghese, Casina Valadier, and the Anantara Palazzo Naiadi, while an international jury evaluated entries based on originality, condition, and historical significance.
For Maserati, the event carried additional weight as it aligns with the lead-up to the centenary of the Trident emblem, first seen on the Tipo 26 in 1926. This context allowed the brand to present a clear connection between heritage and modern engineering.
Historic highlights included the late-1920s Tipo 26B, an evolution of Maserati’s first racing car featuring a supercharged inline-eight engine, and the A6GCS-53 Berlinetta Pininfarina, one of the rarest Maseratis ever built, with only four examples produced. The latter marked a key transition from pure racing machines to road-going grand tourers, combining competition-derived mechanics with a closed coupe body.
Another standout was the 1959 Maserati 3500 GT Vignale Convertible prototype, which received the 100th Certificate of Authenticity from Maserati Classiche. Launched in 2021, the program verifies historic vehicles through archival research and technical analysis, making it a central tool for confirming originality in the collector car market.
The modern lineup featured the MCPURA and the GT2 Stradale. The MCPURA stands out with its carbon-fiber monocoque and 630-hp V6 Nettuno engine, while the GT2 Stradale delivers 640 hp as a road-legal version of Maserati’s GT2 race car, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds.
The debut of Anantara Concorso Roma adds a new dimension to the international concours scene. Its focus on Italian automotive heritage, combined with participation from major manufacturers like Maserati, underlines the continued importance of authenticity, preservation, and historical value in the global collector car landscape.
