Peugeot unveils Concept 6 and Concept 8 in Beijing
Peugeot presented Concept 6 and Concept 8 at the Beijing Auto Show 2026, outlining its strategy for electric and intelligent mobility in China and global markets.
PEUGEOT unveiled two concept cars in Beijing that directly point to future production models, turning its return to the Chinese market into a clear strategic statement rather than a simple showcase.
The brand used the 2026 Beijing International Auto Show to present its vision of electric and intelligent mobility. China plays a central role in this plan, not only as a major sales market but also as a hub for innovation that will influence Peugeot’s global portfolio.
The key premieres were Concept 6 and Concept 8. The first introduces a large sedan with shooting brake elements, combining elegance with a more dynamic silhouette. The second is a large SUV focused on aerodynamic efficiency, interior space and a strong visual presence. Both concepts feature a new design language with closed front panels, slim LED lighting and cleaner body lines.
These concepts go beyond styling exercises. Industry reports suggest that Concept 6 could hint at a successor to the Peugeot 508, while Concept 8 may preview a future flagship SUV. However, technical specifications remain undisclosed, with the emphasis placed on design direction and brand positioning rather than engineering details.
The broader context highlights why this move matters. Dongfeng Peugeot-Citroën, the joint venture operating in China since 1992, saw its sales drop sharply from around 710,000 units in 2015 to about 50,000 in 2020. The company is now attempting to reverse this decline through a renewed focus on electrification and intelligent vehicle technologies.
At the same time, cooperation between Stellantis and Dongfeng is being strengthened. Investments in new energy vehicle production and integration into China’s technology ecosystem indicate a shift in strategy, where China is no longer just a market but a base for development and manufacturing.
This shift is reflected in Peugeot’s future plans. Models inspired by Concept 6 and Concept 8 are expected to be produced at the Wuhan plant, targeting both the domestic Chinese market and exports. According to available information, the first production vehicle from this program could arrive as early as 2027.
Peugeot’s presence in Beijing therefore signals a broader transformation, positioning China as a key center for the brand’s future development, production and global expansion.
