Singer Porsche 911 964 Auction Surpasses $1M Bid
A 1991 Porsche 911 reimagined by Singer Vehicle Design has exceeded $1M on Bring a Trailer. Explore specs, design, and auction details before it closes.
The bidding has already exceeded $1 million for a 1991 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 reimagined by Singer Vehicle Design, with a full week still remaining before the auction closes. This is not a standard classic 911, but a deeply reworked example completed in September 2024 as part of the bespoke “Lonestar” commission.
At its core lies a 964-generation coupe, though little of the original car remains beyond its fundamental structure. The vehicle was stripped down and rebuilt with reinforced chassis elements and carbon-fiber body panels, including the roof. Its visual identity is defined by a rare paint-to-sample Dom Pérignon finish, complemented by nickel-plated details and functional touches such as external fuel and oil filler caps.
The technical transformation follows the same philosophy. A naturally aspirated flat-six has been enlarged to 4.0 liters, producing 390 horsepower and paired with a close-ratio six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Öhlins adjustable suspension and Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes further distinguish it from the original Porsche 964, which in the early 1990s delivered around 250 horsepower in a far simpler configuration.
The interior reflects a similarly meticulous approach. Carbon-fiber bucket seats are trimmed in Bone leather with woven inserts, while Oxford Blue accents and bespoke materials extend across the cabin. Equipment includes a Porsche Classic audio system with Apple CarPlay, alongside numerous custom elements ranging from a MOMO steering wheel to finely detailed trim components.
Cars like this have moved beyond traditional restoration. Founded in Los Angeles in 2009, Singer operates under a “reimagining” philosophy, effectively creating new vehicles based on classic 911 platforms. This approach is reflected in the market, where Singer builds frequently command seven-figure prices, with some examples selling for significantly more.
Against that backdrop, the current bid appears consistent, particularly given the car’s recent completion and low mileage of approximately 2,400 miles since the build. At the same time, the car has not passed a California emissions test, a detail that may affect its usability depending on jurisdiction.
The auction remains active, with strong engagement from bidders and observers alike. Platforms such as Bring a Trailer increasingly serve as reference points for valuing not just classic Porsche models, but specific Singer commissions defined by their rarity, specification, and execution.
