Rolls-Royce Motor Cars presents Cullinan Cosmos, a one-of-one SUV with a hand-painted Starlight Headliner developed over 160 hours and space-themed details.

Rolls-Royce has unveiled Cullinan Cosmos, a one-of-one commission that pays tribute to the drama of outer space. Commissioned by a family who shares a fascination for the universe with their four-year-old son, the theme comes alive through bespoke details, crowned by a brand first: a fully hand-painted Starlight Headliner.

The headline act is the headliner itself. An in-house artist spent more than 160 hours building the celestial scene with over twenty successive layers of acrylic paint and a variety of brushes. To achieve the soft nebula-like haze, the artist even used a makeup brush, letting a delicate veil of pigment settle on the surface. Only after the painting was complete were the fibre-optic perforations manually punched and positioned to align with the contours of the Milky Way artwork.

Outside, Cullinan Cosmos channels moonlit imagery: the body is finished in Arabescato Pearl with a subtle pearlescent glow, highlighted by a twin coachline in Charles Blue and an Illuminated Spirit of Ecstasy that glints like a distant star. Inside, the ambience shifts to quiet contemplation—reclining seats in Charles Blue and Grace White with contrasting detailing, crisp Piano White veneers, and a bespoke Star Cluster motif appearing as embroidery on the door panels and headrests and as hand-painted artwork on the front passenger fascia.

The commission was realised through Private Office Dubai, one of the marque’s international Private Offices that bring the full capabilities of the Bespoke Collective closer to visionary clients. The motor car was delivered to the family in time for a special occasion, turning every journey into a voyage among the stars.

Why it matters: this first fully hand-painted Starlight Headliner signals an expansion of in-cabin artistic practice within Rolls-Royce Bespoke. With growing appetite for complex commissions and the presence of dedicated Private Offices, similarly ambitious techniques are likely to appear again—without speculating on specific models or timelines.
