Mercedes-Maybach V12 Edition with V12 heritage

Mercedes-Maybach V12 Edition unites craftsmanship and heritage, limited to 50 units, inspired by Zeppelin tradition, unveiled in Civitavecchia
Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the limited-run Mercedes-Maybach V12 Edition, based on the flagship S 680 sedan. The premiere took place on September 23, 2025, at Fort Michelangelo in Civitavecchia, marking over a century of Maybach tradition where the V12 engine has long stood as a symbol of prestige and power. Only 50 cars will be built, underscoring the exclusivity of the project.
The car retains the technical core of the S 680: a 5,980 cc V12 producing 450 kW (612 hp) and 900 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds with an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h. Yet the true distinction of the V12 Edition lies in its details, realized through the MANUFAKTUR program.
The body features a unique two-tone finish: MANUFAKTUR olive metallic on the upper section, obsidian black metallic on the lower, and a delicate silver pinstripe accentuating the profile. On the C-pillar sits a special emblem – the double-M with a gold “12” medallion, a tribute to the legendary Maybach Zeppelin. Inside, saddle brown Nappa leather meets burr walnut wood, extending even to the handcrafted steering wheel. A “1 of 50” badge decorates the center console, while the rear console carries a golden inlay that requires up to a week of meticulous craftsmanship.
Each car comes with Robbe & Berking silver champagne flutes engraved for the edition, a handcrafted key gift box, and a unique key ring. Nearly the full suite of high-end equipment is included: electrically operated comfort rear doors, active road noise compensation, rear-axle steering, E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL suspension, and the MBUX infotainment system with up to five screens, some with OLED technology.
The historical connection is clear. In the 1930s, the Maybach Zeppelin, powered by twelve-cylinder engines of seven and eight liters, was regarded as the pinnacle of automotive luxury. According to specialist archives, around 183 DS7 and DS8 units were built, each bodied individually by renowned coachbuilders. Today, the V12 Edition carries that spirit forward, blending modern innovation with MANUFAKTUR’s artisanal skills.
The future of the V12 remains under close watch. Mercedes-Benz leadership has confirmed that the twelve-cylinder engine will remain part of the Maybach lineup into the 2030s, though restricted to select markets. This makes the V12 Edition not only a rare collector’s piece but also a statement of continuity, preserving heritage in an era of accelerating electrification. Deliveries are set to begin in autumn 2025.
