BMW announces autumn 2025 updates: stronger engines for M240i, 3 and 4 Series, new colors for 2 Series Gran Coupé, laser tail lights, X3 interior upgrades, ConnectedDrive features.

Autumn 2025 marks a fresh chapter for BMW, with updates spanning engines, design options, interior refinements and digital services. The company has focused on making its popular series both more powerful and more efficient, while adding subtle touches of comfort and innovation.

The headline news is the upgrade to entry-level BMW M models. The M240i xDrive Coupé, along with the M340i and M440i, now come with a revised 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine delivering 392 hp and 540 Nm of torque. A mild-hybrid system adds another 12 hp. Acceleration has been sharpened by a tenth of a second: the M340i xDrive Sedan, for example, reaches 100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds. Compared to the previous figures of 374 hp and 500 Nm, the improvement is clear. Efficiency has also been enhanced: the M240i Coupé now consumes 8.0 l/100 km under WLTP, with CO₂ emissions reduced to 183 g/km.

On the design side, the 2 Series Gran Coupé (F74) gains an expanded colour palette, with Cape York Green available for the first time in this model line. Lighting technology also takes a step forward: the facelifted BMW i4 and 4 Series Gran Coupé introduce laser tail lights, a feature once reserved for exclusive high-performance models, now entering wider production.

Inside the cabin, refinement continues. The new-generation BMW X3 (G45) offers rear headrests and side sections of the second row in matching upholstery colours when specified with Veganza or Merino trim. Meanwhile, the 5 Series family, including the i5 and M5, adds a simple yet useful detail: a standard coat hook on the B-pillar.

Digital innovation also plays a role. The My BMW app now includes a “Charging Guide” section with tips on charging procedures and stop optimisation. In addition, charge-optimised route planning with BMW Operating System 8/8.5 has extended its availability. While official confirmations highlight the functionality itself, the company notes expansion into new regions such as Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Romania, Serbia and Singapore.

On the production front, attention turns to Debrecen, Hungary, where series production of the new BMW iX3 will begin in late October 2025. As the first model of the Neue Klasse architecture, it represents a major milestone. With European sales expected in spring 2026, the iX3 points to the brand’s future, while the autumn updates reinforce continuity and progress across the current line-up.
