Toyota presents the 2026 GR Corolla with structural upgrades, cooling improvements, two trims, advanced safety tech, and pricing starting at $39,920.

Toyota has unveiled the updated 2026 GR Corolla, a car that preserves its rally-bred spirit while gaining notable refinements. The focus this year is not on raw power—the 1.6-liter three-cylinder turbo still delivers 300 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque—but on how the machine feels on both road and track.

Engineers added nearly 45 feet of structural adhesive to the body, strengthening the chassis and sharpening responses, especially in corners. A new secondary intake duct helps manage temperatures, ensuring consistent performance during extended driving sessions.

The lineup has been streamlined to just two trims: Base and Premium Plus. The Base features functional hood vents, a color-keyed spoiler, and Brin Naub sport seats with grey stitching. Premium Plus upgrades include a forged carbon-fiber roof, matte black alloy wheels, red-stitched sport seats, and a head-up display. The JBL audio system now integrates a ninth speaker and subwoofer, while Active Sound Control links engine response with cabin acoustics for a more engaging drive.

Early reviews from journalists who tested the car in California highlight improved composure and stability. The added rigidity and cooling updates give the GR Corolla more confidence when pushed hard on track.

Production continues at the GR Factory inside Toyota’s Motomachi plant in Japan, but in 2026, assembly will also begin at Toyota Motor Manufacturing UK in Derbyshire. This expansion signals Toyota’s intent to strengthen the GR Corolla’s presence in Europe.

Official color options for the 2026 model have not yet been announced, leaving some anticipation ahead of its market debut. Meanwhile, prototype images of a track-focused version with a large rear wing and extra vents have circulated, though Toyota has not confirmed any special editions. The mere appearance of such test cars suggests that the GR Corolla’s story may yet take new turns.
