Ford presented the Nugget with fixed high roof at Caravan Salon 2025, along with Ranger PHEV as camper and new Transit-based motorhomes.

At Caravan Salon 2025 in Düsseldorf, Ford Pro unveiled a series of new vehicles that highlight its growing presence in the motorhome and camper segment. The centerpiece was the world premiere of the Ford Nugget with a fixed high roof. Unlike the familiar pop-top versions, the new model provides a constant interior height of up to 2.09 meters, improved insulation, and significantly more storage. Buyers can choose between two layouts: one with a large wardrobe offering 911 liters of capacity, or another with a built-in toilet and 711 liters of storage. The upper bed, measuring 2.05 by 1.30 meters, is wider than before. Power comes from a 2.0-liter EcoBlue diesel with 150 PS, paired with a six-speed manual gearbox and front-wheel drive. The fixed high-roof option is priced at €2,975, while the Titanium configuration shown in Düsseldorf starts at €82,645.50.

The Ranger PHEV also drew attention as Europe’s first pickup with plug-in hybrid technology. Its powertrain combines a 2.3-liter EcoBoost petrol engine with an electric motor, delivering up to 43 kilometers of electric range under WLTP standards. The 11.8 kWh battery can be recharged in under four hours via a household socket, while the Pro Power Onboard system provides up to 6.9 kW for external devices. At the show, the pickup was displayed with a factory hardtop and roof tent designed for two adults and a child. With a towing capacity of 3.5 tons, the Ranger PHEV is positioned as a versatile expedition vehicle.

Two additional debuts emphasized Ford Pro’s partnerships in the camper segment. Both Sunlight and Dethleffs presented new models based on the Ford Transit platform. Sunlight showcased the CLIFF 4x4 Greentrek, a rugged van with all-wheel drive, raised ground clearance, and a distinctive olive-yellow paint scheme. Dethleffs introduced the GLOBEBUS GO T45, a compact semi-integrated motorhome under seven meters in length, designed primarily for two but adaptable for more sleeping space.

The impact of these launches was underscored by the success of Caravan Salon 2025 itself, which attracted 269,000 visitors from 80 countries and hosted 810 exhibitors. In this context, the arrival of the Nugget with a fixed high roof and the expansion of Transit-based models appear as a logical step. Competition in the segment is intensifying: Volkswagen is focusing on the new California with plug-in hybrid options and a traditional pop-up roof, while the Grand California remains its fixed-roof alternative. Ford, meanwhile, strengthens its position by offering a compact solution that combines practicality, year-round usability, and versatility.
