MAN Truck & Bus adds AI assistant to Perform digital service, offering faster fleet analysis and tailored recommendations. Launched in Austria, now in Germany.

MAN Truck & Bus has taken a decisive step in digital fleet management by equipping its Perform service with an AI-powered assistant. Already a cornerstone of the MAN DigitalServices ecosystem, Perform now delivers faster, clearer and more personalized insights into fleet operations.

After its debut in Austria in spring 2025, the assistant is now available in Germany, with other European markets to follow. Ease of use is central: fleet managers can simply ask questions in natural language, such as “Which drivers can improve their performance?” or “What advice should I give to reduce fuel consumption?” The AI responds with straightforward evaluations and actionable recommendations that can be shared directly with drivers.

The key advantage is speed. According to MAN, analyses are now up to three times faster. The system does not rely solely on vehicle and driver data; it also taps into a continuously updated knowledge base of manuals, training content and practical experience, making the results both accurate and directly applicable.

Perform, operating via the RIO platform, remains one of MAN’s most widely used digital tools. It collects near real-time vehicle data and offers neutral, comparable insights into utilization, driving style and technical performance. For drivers, the MAN Driver App provides personal ratings and the opportunity to adjust their driving style independently.

While MAN has not yet shared concrete figures from early adopters in Austria, the company stresses that the goal is to save time and resources while strengthening driver training. Analysts note that this differentiates MAN from rivals like Daimler, Volvo and Scania: those brands emphasize statistics and coaching, whereas MAN combines these with a chat-based assistant and a knowledge-driven backbone.

Within the broader EU context, including the Data Act and new CO2 standards for heavy vehicles, such digital tools are no longer optional but essential. The introduction of AI into Perform can be seen not just as a technical upgrade, but as part of MAN’s and the TRATON GROUP’s long-term strategy for digital transformation in commercial transport.
