BMW collaborates with SipaBoards to launch an electric stand-up paddleboard featuring a 300 W motor, app control, and Neue Klasse design details.

BMW is extending its electric innovation beyond the road and into open water. Together with Slovenian company SipaBoards, the brand has unveiled the BMW x SipaBoards — an electric stand-up paddleboard that blends BMW engineering precision, modern design, and a love of outdoor activity. It marks the first electrically powered water product in BMW’s history.

SipaBoards, the market leader in e-SUP construction, pioneered the world’s first self-inflating paddleboards with integrated jet motors. For this collaboration, BMW Group Designworks created the design language inspired by the Neue Klasse, while the carbon-fibre paddle incorporates a Bluetooth controller. The user interface allows riders to switch between modes, including FREUDE Mode, which activates extra power, lighting effects, and haptic feedback.

The integrated motor delivers up to 300 watts of power, enabling smooth and nearly silent gliding at speeds of up to 7.5 km/h. The energy comes from modular battery packs — 90 Wh or 180 Wh — offering between one and seven hours of riding time. The motor also serves as an automatic inflator before setting off.

A dedicated smartphone app supports route planning, battery monitoring, and GPS tracking. For safety, the motor automatically cuts off when the paddle loses connection with the board, ensuring full control even in unpredictable conditions.

The board’s X-woven drop-stitch core provides remarkable rigidity and stability while keeping weight low at just 10.9 kilograms. Measuring 3.65 metres long and 0.82 metres wide, it can comfortably carry two riders.

Its innovative click & connect mounting system allows users to attach accessories such as cameras, waterproof bags, or speakers in seconds. BMW also offers a Lifestyle Accessory Capsule that includes an Insta360 X5 action camera and selected items from the BMW Lifestyle collection.

The BMW x SipaBoards is available now from the BMW Lifestyle online store and selected SipaBoards retailers at a price of €3,990. From spring 2026, versions with higher-capacity batteries will be added for extended water adventures. Following previous electric water projects such as THE ICON and THE OPEN, BMW’s new e-SUP demonstrates how the company continues to expand sustainable mobility — from roads to waves.
