Nissan introduces the Tekton SUV under its “One Car, One World” strategy, blending Patrol-inspired design with global ambitions and Indian production.

Nissan has revealed the name and first look of its new SUV, the Tekton, marking a major step in the company’s “One Car, One World” strategy for India. The initiative focuses on creating vehicles developed and built in India for both domestic and global markets. Tekton follows the success of the Magnite, which is now exported to more than 65 countries.

The new SUV will be produced at the Renault-Nissan plant in Chennai, a key export hub for the alliance. Following Renault’s acquisition of full ownership in 2025, the facility is set for renewed expansion, and Tekton will be among the first models to lead this next phase.

Design inspiration comes from the legendary Nissan Patrol — visible from the first glance. The Tekton features a sculpted hood, a signature C-shaped lighting pattern, and a bold bumper. Distinctive “Double-C” door motifs inspired by the Himalayas add regional character, while a red light bar and bold Tekton lettering define the rear.

Indian automotive media suggest the model may use the CMF-B platform shared with Renault, enabling cost efficiency and production synergy. However, Nissan has not yet officially confirmed the technical details.

Scheduled for launch in 2026, the Tekton will compete in India’s fast-growing C-SUV segment, alongside rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, and Honda Elevate. Nissan aims to stand out through distinctive design, reliability, and a sense of refined robustness.

The project is overseen by Alfonso Albaisa, Nissan’s Senior Vice President for Global Design, known for his work on the GT-R, Ariya, and Patrol. His approach blends Japanese precision with expressive global styling cues.

The name “Tekton,” derived from the Greek word meaning “craftsman” or “creator,” reflects Nissan’s philosophy of engineering mastery and thoughtful innovation. It symbolizes a vehicle crafted for those shaping their own path.

While Nissan has not released specifications or pricing, the Tekton is already seen as central to the revitalization of Nissan Motor India. With it, the company plans to expand both its model lineup and dealer network, reinforcing its commitment to one of the world’s most dynamic automotive markets.
