Volvo introduces the ES90, a fully electric sedan with an impressive 434-mile range, ultra-fast 800V charging, and cutting-edge safety features. Learn more about its performance and design.

Volvo has officially unveiled its latest fully electric sedan, the ES90, aiming to make a strong statement in the premium EV segment. This new model combines cutting-edge technology, Scandinavian design, and an impressive range of up to 434 miles (700 km) on a single charge.

One of the ES90’s standout features is its 800-volt architecture, enabling ultra-fast charging: in just 10 minutes at a 350 kW station, the battery gains an additional 186 miles (300 km) of range. This makes it an ideal choice for long-distance travel.

The ES90 will be available in three configurations:

  • Base model – single rear motor with 329 hp, accelerating from 0–62 mph (0–100 km/h) in 6.7 seconds.
  • Dual-motor AWD version442 hp, 0–62 mph in 5.3 seconds.
  • Performance version – a powerful 670 hp, reaching 62 mph in just 3.9 seconds.

Depending on the trim, the ES90 comes with either a 92 kWh or 106 kWh battery pack, influencing range and performance.

Inspired by the EX90, the ES90 features sleek Scandinavian aesthetics with flush door handles, a panoramic roof with electrochromic glass, and the signature Thor’s Hammer LED headlights. The interior is spacious, with up to 733 liters of cargo space, and incorporates eco-friendly materials for a modern, sustainable touch.

Built on the Snapdragon Cockpit platform, the ES90 integrates Google Maps, Google Assistant, and 5G connectivity, with a 14.5-inch central display as the infotainment hub. Safety is a priority, with LiDAR, radars, and cameras providing real-time analysis of surroundings.

The ES90 will be manufactured in China, reflecting the region’s booming EV industry. However, Volvo has global ambitions for this model, with plans to launch it in key markets, including Europe.

Direct competitors include the BMW i5 and Mercedes-Benz EQE, with the ES90 positioned between them in size while offering class-leading fast-charging capabilities and advanced safety features.

The public debut is set for March 5, 2025, in Stockholm, with sales expected to follow later that year. While official pricing remains unannounced, estimates suggest a range of $70,000 to $90,000, depending on the variant.

With a focus on ultra-fast charging, advanced safety, and premium comfort, Volvo is positioning the ES90 as a compelling choice for those seeking an electric future without compromise.
