Dongfeng Nissan launches new sedans N6 PHEV and Teana in China

Dongfeng Nissan introduced the N6 PHEV with the segment’s largest battery and the new Teana featuring Huawei’s HarmonySpace 5.0 smart cockpit, both debuting in China by late 2025.
Dongfeng Nissan has unveiled two new models in China, marking a key step in the second phase of its Re:Nissan strategy. The event showcased the N6, the brand’s first plug-in hybrid sedan, and the refreshed Teana featuring Huawei’s intelligent HarmonySpace 5.0 cockpit. Both models are scheduled to go on sale in China by the end of 2025.
The N6 represents a technological milestone for Nissan. Built on Dongfeng Nissan’s new energy architecture, it combines a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with a 21.1 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery — the largest in its segment. Data from Chinese regulatory sources indicate an NR15 engine rated at 75 kW and an electric motor of 155 kW. Measuring 4,831 mm in length and 1,885 mm in width, the N6 offers generous cabin space and a confident exterior with a V-Motion grille and expressive LED lighting.
The new Teana reinterprets a familiar nameplate with a focus on intelligent comfort. It is the first internal combustion vehicle in China equipped with Huawei’s HarmonySpace 5.0 smart cockpit and HUAWEI SOUND audio system. Its redesigned body and cabin emphasize a modern, premium aesthetic, reflecting Nissan’s broader shift toward locally integrated digital technologies.
Speaking at the debut, Nissan President Ivan Espinosa highlighted China’s role as a vital innovation hub for the brand. He noted that the Dongfeng-Nissan joint venture enables faster localization and development of next-generation vehicles. Under the Re:Nissan plan, the company aims to diversify its powertrain lineup — from conventional engines to hybrids and EVs — offering the right technology for each market at the right time.
With the N6 and Teana launches, Nissan strengthens its foothold in a market increasingly defined by smart and electrified sedans. Industry observers suggest that this move will enhance Nissan’s competitiveness against Chinese leaders such as BYD and Geely in the fast-growing PHEV segment.
