Toyota unveils the 2026 Corolla Cross Hybrid Nasu Edition at SEMA 2025, inspired by Mt. Nasu and built by SPAD to highlight versatility, outdoor design, and innovation.

Toyota arrived at the 2025 SEMA Show with more than a concept—it brought a vision of everyday adventure. The 2026 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid Nasu Edition, created by the Service Parts and Accessories Development (SPAD) team, redefines how a compact crossover can embrace the spirit of exploration.

Inspired by Japan’s Mt. Nasu, a destination known for hot springs and hiking trails, the project carries deeper meaning: in Japanese, “nasu” means “to achieve.” That idea guided every detail of the build, blending precision engineering with a story about aspiration and the outdoors.

SPAD, Toyota’s North American group behind accessory design and prototype builds such as the RAV-X and TRD ProRunner, combined CAD modeling, 3D printing, and multi-site assembly to create a cohesive, functional vehicle. The result reflects both craftsmanship and experimentation.

The concept keeps the Corolla Cross Hybrid’s powertrain—a 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle engine paired with three electric motors delivering 196 horsepower. All-wheel drive, a suspension lift, and Toyo Open Country A/T III tires equip it for terrain far beyond the city.

Visually, the Nasu Edition stands apart with an aggressive body kit, hood scoop, and a striking purple finish—a nod to another meaning of “nasu,” the eggplant. On the roof sits a mountain bike honoring downhill world champion Asa Vermette, underscoring the vehicle’s connection to outdoor sports.

Inside, utility meets comfort: a slide-out refrigerator, storage drawers, and illuminated sills turn the cabin into a base for long-distance adventures. Every feature supports the idea of movement and discovery.

Part of Toyota’s “Powered by Possibility” showcase, the Nasu Edition joins over two dozen builds representing every powertrain—from gasoline to hydrogen fuel cell. While Toyota has made no announcement about production plans, automotive media note that several accessories from this concept could find their way into the Corolla Cross lineup.
