Skoda Superb achieves world record distance with Miko Marczyk

Polish rally champion Miko Marczyk drove 2,831 km on one tank in a Skoda Superb, setting a Guinness World Record and proving remarkable fuel efficiency.
Polish rally champion Miko Marczyk has shown that driving mastery isn’t limited to the racetrack. In March 2025, he set a world record by covering 2,831 kilometres on a single tank of fuel behind the wheel of a fourth-generation Skoda Superb. The route led from Lodz through Germany and Paris, then back via the Netherlands, Belgium and Poland, officially confirmed by Guinness World Records.
The car used for the attempt was a standard Skoda Superb 2.0 TDI producing 110 kW, with front-wheel drive and a seven-speed DSG gearbox. While the official WLTP fuel consumption for this configuration is 4.9–5.3 l/100 km, Marczyk achieved an astonishing 2.61 l/100 km—nearly half the rated figure. The fuel tank holds 66 litres, and the liftback’s aerodynamic drag coefficient ranges between 0.234 and 0.274, among the best in its class.
The record run wasn’t without challenges: nighttime temperatures in Germany dropped to around 1°C, with long uphill stretches and shifting winds. Marczyk compensated by maintaining moderate speeds, using Eco mode, and keeping his driving rhythm smooth and consistent. His philosophy was simple—don’t rush, make every drop of fuel count.
This new milestone surpasses the previous official record from 2011, when a Volkswagen Passat BlueMotion covered 2,545.8 kilometres. Marczyk’s success now stands as a benchmark for those who see fuel efficiency not just as practicality, but as a form of skill and precision.
His advice remains down-to-earth yet firmly grounded in expertise: maintain proper tyre pressure, drive well-rested, anticipate traffic to avoid unnecessary braking, accelerate smoothly, and use efficient driving modes. These tips align with recommendations from ADAC, Umweltbundesamt, and Natural Resources Canada—organisations devoted to energy-efficient driving.
As a Skoda brand ambassador in Poland, Marczyk continues to prove that attentive, sustainable driving can both conserve fuel and inspire others. His next ambition—to surpass 3,000 kilometres on a single tank—could once again redefine the limits of economical motoring.
