2027 Kia Telluride revealed in artistic camouflage before Los Angeles Auto Show
Kia America showcases the 2027 Telluride prototype wrapped in artistic camouflage inspired by Opposites United design philosophy ahead of its LA Auto Show debut.
Kia America has unveiled a striking preview of its upcoming flagship SUV — the 2027 Telluride. Weeks ahead of its world debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show on November 20, the brand presented a prototype wrapped in an intricate camouflage. Developed by the Kia Design Center America (KDCA), the vehicle embodies the Opposites United design philosophy, blending natural contrasts with technological precision.
The Telluride’s wrap is more than a disguise — it’s a visual narrative. Built from hundreds of overlapping design sketches, it symbolizes both the beginning and end of the creative process, according to KDCA’s Vice President and Senior Chief Designer Tom Kearns. The color gradient shifts from orange at the front to purple at the rear, emphasizing motion and emotional energy.
This artistic approach reflects the principles outlined by Karim Habib, Head of Kia Global Design: Bold for Nature, Joy for Reason, Power to Progress, Technology for Life, and Tension for Serenity. These ideas have shaped the appearance of Kia’s recent models — from the EV6 to the Sportage — and define the brand’s evolving identity.
The camouflage Telluride was tested and filmed in Alabama Hills, California, a landscape of rounded granite formations set against the sharp peaks of the Sierra Nevada. The rugged terrain served as a natural proving ground, capturing the SUV tackling steep climbs, rocky paths, and water crossings.
While Kia has not yet released technical specifications, the new generation of Telluride is expected to mark a major step forward in both design and capability. Its official debut in Los Angeles is set to be one of the highlights of the 2025 auto show season.
