Bentley introduces the first Ombré by Mulliner collection for Rancho Mirage, featuring bespoke Continental GT, GTC and Flying Spur with intricate gradient paintwork.

Bentley has unveiled the first “Ombré by Mulliner” collection, a striking demonstration of how artistry and precision can coexist in automotive design. Created for Bentley Rancho Mirage in California, the project marks a new milestone for Mulliner — the brand’s historic coachbuilding and personalization division.

The collection features three models: the Continental GT, the Continental GTC, and the Flying Spur. Each showcases its own interpretation of the Ombré technique — a seamless fade from one tone to another. The Continental GTC debuts the gradient from Sunburst Gold to Orange Flame, inspired by the warm hues of Monument Valley and the Painted Desert. The Flying Spur blends metallic Tungsten into deep Onyx, while the Continental GT transitions from bright Topaz to rich Windsor Blue, echoing the movement of the Pacific Ocean along Monterey’s coast.

The paint process takes around sixty hours to complete. Two specialists at Bentley’s Dream Factory in Crewe apply the colors by hand in several stages, maintaining symmetry and visual purity as the fade runs across the doors, sills, and roof.

Inside, the theme continues. The front half of each cabin mirrors the leading exterior tone, while the rear half reflects the darker shade. Matching color gradients appear on stitching, piping, and trim details, with 22-inch wheels painted to echo the same transition.

Mulliner’s heritage stretches back to the 16th century, becoming part of Bentley in 1959. Today, it oversees bespoke commissions, limited editions, and the revival of classics such as the Bacalar and Batur. The “Ombré” collection extends this legacy — a showcase of craftsmanship and the growing demand for individual expression.

According to Jason Cammisa, Managing Director of Bentley Rancho Mirage, the aim was to reveal aspects of Bentley that clients had never experienced before. The success of this project has already inspired interest in new bespoke possibilities.

The Ombré technique is now available worldwide through Bentley’s retailer network. Following its debut at Monterey Car Week and its expansion to the Flying Spur sedan, it stands poised to become one of Mulliner’s defining signatures.
