Nissan unveils the 2026 Elgrand with e-POWER and futuristic style

Nissan has unveiled the fourth generation of its flagship minivan, the 2026 Elgrand, marking a bold return for one of Japan’s most beloved luxury family vehicles. Presented at the Japan Mobility Show, the new Elgrand embodies Nissan’s philosophy of “timeless Japanese futurism,” blending tradition with forward-looking design and innovation.

The exterior design departs radically from its predecessor. Inspired by the 2023 Hyper Tourer concept, the front fascia features a pixel-like grille composed of black and body-colored panels, framed by intricate LED lighting. At the rear, a sculpted tailgate and a complex light signature create a cohesive, dynamic look that commands attention on the road.

Inside, the cabin continues to define the Elgrand’s identity as a moving lounge. Two 40-inch displays dominate the dashboard, while the redesigned center console adds practical controls. The new steering wheel is wrapped in two-tone leather and retains physical buttons — a welcome detail amid the touchscreen overload of modern cars. The second-row seats offer full lounge functionality with electrically adjustable leg rests and reclining features. A 22-speaker Bose sound system, with large speakers embedded directly into the front headrests, turns the interior into a private audio cocoon.

Under the hood lies Nissan’s third-generation e-POWER system. The setup combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine acting solely as a generator with a fully electric drivetrain. The Elgrand is the first model to feature the new e-4ORCE all-wheel-drive system, which uses the rear motor’s torque to minimize pitching during acceleration and braking, enhancing ride comfort and stability.

Technological sophistication continues with the latest ProPILOT driver assistance suite, enabling hands-free operation at speeds below 50 km/h. The optional ProPILOT 2.0 allows for hands-free highway driving and automatic lane changes — another step toward autonomous mobility.

For Nissan, the Elgrand’s return is more than a model launch; it’s a statement of intent. Despite financial headwinds, the company is pushing forward under its renewed strategy built on three pillars: Core, Heartbeat, and Partnerships.
