Toyota Presents the Scion 01 Concept — A Hybrid Off-Road Vision at SEMA 2025
Toyota has introduced the Scion 01 Concept at SEMA 2025 — a hybrid side-by-side off-road vehicle blending power, innovation, and Scion’s experimental spirit. Learn more.
Toyota has revived the legendary Scion name in a new context—not as a separate brand, but as a symbol of creative engineering freedom. At the 2025 SEMA Show, the company unveiled the Scion 01, a bold side-by-side off-road concept that blends power, innovation, and the experimental legacy once associated with the Scion badge.
The project was led by Toyota’s North American engineering team, whose passion for off-roading shaped every detail. The concept features a turbocharged four-cylinder hybrid engine producing more than 300 horsepower, inspired by Toyota’s i-FORCE MAX system used in its truck lineup. One of its key features is Silent Mode, allowing the vehicle to run quietly on electric power, creating a serene connection with nature.
Built from the ground up, the Scion 01 is designed for demanding terrains—from high-speed desert runs to technical rock crawling. Its suspension articulation, balanced track width, and lightweight structure make it equally capable and agile. A major engineering highlight is the FIA-certified safety cage that meets SCORE and FIA standards, underlining Toyota’s focus on safety even in conceptual builds.
The vehicle’s design comes from CALTY Design Research in California, Toyota’s long-standing creative studio behind many of the brand’s most iconic concepts. The Scion 01’s form reflects the spirit of American off-road design—rugged, functional, and purposeful.
Its debut at SEMA aligns with a wider trend: the growing presence of hybrid and electrified off-road machines. Toyota used the show to demonstrate how sustainability and performance can coexist, pushing the boundaries of what adventure vehicles can be.
Though the Scion 01 is not destined for production, it clearly illustrates Toyota’s evolving performance philosophy—merging durability, efficiency, and curiosity-driven innovation. By reviving the Scion name, Toyota not only pays tribute to its experimental roots but also points toward a future where adventure and technology meet on new terrain.
