Lexus Announces 2026 RZ with Enhanced Charging and New Plug & Charge Functionality

Lexus introduces the 2026 RZ with expanded access to Tesla Superchargers, faster charging, and new Plug & Charge feature for a seamless EV experience.

Lexus has unveiled the updated version of its electric crossover — the 2026 Lexus RZ. The new model focuses on improved performance, extended range, and more convenient charging. One of the most significant updates is its integration with the Tesla Supercharger network, giving Lexus owners access to more than 25,000 charging stations across North America. This marks an important step in expanding the brand’s EV infrastructure and making the charging process faster and simpler.

The 2026 model is the first Lexus to feature the NACS (SAE J3400) standard and Plug & Charge functionality. Once drivers complete a one-time setup through the Lexus app, the vehicle automatically begins charging when plugged in. This seamless system enhances everyday usability, particularly for drivers who rely on DC fast charging.

All 2026 RZ models come equipped with adapters for SAE J1772 and CCS stations, ensuring compatibility with the majority of existing networks. Owners of earlier 2023–2025 RZ models will receive a complimentary NACS adapter — a move that highlights Lexus’s customer-focused approach and commitment to long-term vehicle support.

Additionally, Lexus has introduced Apple Maps EV Routing support for all RZ models from 2023 onward. This feature helps drivers plan their trips more efficiently by considering factors like battery level, terrain, and route elevation.

With an upgraded battery capacity of up to 77 kWh, an improved eAxle system, and an estimated range of up to 302 miles (486 km EPA), the 2026 RZ represents a major step forward for the brand. It shows that Lexus is not only adapting to the fast-evolving EV landscape but also striving to deliver practical, user-friendly solutions for everyday BEV ownership.
