Chevrolet has officially launched its most powerful electric SUV yet—the Blazer EV SS. Not only has the automaker confirmed its release date, but it has also surprised the market with enhanced performance figures: a staggering 624 horsepower and 880 Nm of torque.

These figures enable the electric SUV to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (96.7 km/h) in just 3.4 seconds when the Wide Open Watts (WOW) mode is engaged. This puts the Blazer EV SS in direct competition with other high-performance electric SUVs.

Beyond speed, Chevrolet has focused on efficiency and practicality. The Blazer EV SS offers an EPA-estimated range of 303 miles (488 km) per charge, making it a viable option for long-distance travel. Built on GM’s Ultium platform, it supports 195 kW fast charging, adding 78 miles (125 km) of range in just 10 minutes.

The Blazer EV SS enters the U.S. market with a starting price of $62,490, and interest in the model is already evident. In Q3 2024, sales grew by 21% compared to the previous quarter, with over 23,000 units sold by the end of the year.

Inside, the SUV boasts a modern, high-tech cabin, featuring an 11-inch digital instrument cluster and a 17.7-inch infotainment touchscreen. It comes equipped with GM’s Super Cruise hands-free driving system, Chevy Safety Assist, a premium Bose audio system, and a panoramic sunroof.

Chevrolet is also emphasizing sustainability, implementing battery recycling programs and using renewable materials in interior trims to reduce the Blazer EV SS’s carbon footprint.

With its impressive performance, growing sales, and competitive positioning, the Blazer EV SS is emerging as one of the most compelling electric SUVs on the market, ready to take on the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT and Tesla Model Y Performance.
