Opel Combo Electric with bott Factory Load-Securing System
Opel reports a bott load-securing upgrade for the Combo Electric, adding factory-prepared flooring, cladding and cargo restraints to support professional use.
Opel is strengthening its position in the compact commercial vehicle segment by expanding the capabilities of the Combo Electric through a collaboration with bott. Originally designed as a versatile tool for trades and service professionals, the electric van now receives factory-prepared equipment for professional load-securing systems, addressing the growing demand from users who rely on a robust and orderly workspace during daily operations.
At the core of the upgrade is a carefully engineered set of components: a moisture-resistant 12-millimetre birch plywood floor with a non-slip resin surface, aluminium edge protection in the door areas, and integrated T-nuts for future equipment installations. The system is complemented by vario protect-light interior wall cladding made from recyclable polypropylene, offering resistance to corrosion, impacts, and chemicals. The panels also simplify vehicle maintenance, as they can be easily cleaned after transporting equipment or liquids.
Building on this foundation, bott supplies a practical kit that includes various lashing straps, protective pads, and a case holder. These elements provide a structured basis for safe cargo fixation and support efficient workflows. Despite the added functionality, the entire installation weighs around 30 kilograms, allowing the Combo Electric to retain up to 4.4 cubic metres of load volume and the ability to carry roughly 750 kilograms of cargo.
Notably, bott’s solutions are integrated directly into Opel’s production process. The conversion can be carried out either at the factory or through authorised dealers, enabling a convenient one-invoice process that combines the vehicle and its equipment in a single transaction. TÜV certification and compliance with DIN standards reinforce the professional quality of the installation.
Within the broader Stellantis CustomFit programme—offering factory-ready upfitting packages for light commercial vehicles—this rollout for the Combo Electric fits naturally. German industry publications report that similar solutions for small vans start at around 1,000 euros, covering the plywood floor, interior panelling, and fastening accessories. This supports businesses by reducing additional workshop costs and providing a ready-to-use configuration.
The Combo Electric is positioned as a practical tool for daily work in trades and service industries, where reliability, organised space, and safe cargo handling are essential. As electric commercial vehicles continue gaining ground across European cities, factory-integrated solutions like these are increasingly likely to become industry standards. The partnership between Opel and bott demonstrates how thoughtfully designed equipment can adapt a compact electric van to real-world professional use—from deliveries to mobile workshops.
