Bentley reveals new rear-drive Continental GT Supersports

The new Bentley Supersports marks a return to the brand’s driver-first philosophy. One hundred years after the debut of the original Super Sports, Bentley has revealed the most focused version of the Continental GT to date—a rear-wheel-drive, lightweight, two-seat machine. This direction stands apart from the hybrid Continental GT models introduced in recent years, offering a purer and more engaging interpretation of performance.
At its core is a reworked 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 666 PS and 800 Nm of torque. The eight-speed dual-clutch transmission has been recalibrated for sharper responses, and all power is delivered exclusively to the rear wheels. Engineers highlight that this configuration creates a distinctly different driving character, making the Supersports the first production rear-drive Continental GT in Bentley’s history.
Weight reduction became a central theme of the project. With the removal of the rear cabin, reduced sound insulation, the addition of a carbon-fibre roof, and the deletion of certain assistance systems, the Supersports becomes the lightest Bentley in more than eight decades. Aerodynamic development plays an equally important role: the largest front splitter ever fitted to a Bentley, carbon dive planes, a rear diffuser, and a fixed rear wing together add more than 300 kg of downforce compared with the Continental GT Speed.
The chassis received extensive upgrades as well. Air suspension works with new twin-chamber dampers, while an electronic limited-slip differential and torque vectoring enhance precision. Three driving modes—Touring, Bentley, and Sport—adjust throttle response, shift strategy, suspension behaviour, and even the tone of the Akrapovic titanium exhaust. With optional Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS tyres, the car is capable of generating up to 1.3 g of lateral acceleration.
The development story adds further character. The internal codename, Mildred, honours British record-breaker Mildred Mary Petre, who in 1929 drove a Bentley 4½ Litre for 24 hours at the Montlhéry circuit. Her determination inspired the engineering team, who built the first rear-drive prototype in just six weeks—an experiment that paved the way for the production model.
Production will be limited to 500 individually numbered cars, with manufacturing beginning in late 2026 and first deliveries scheduled for early 2027. The Supersports will be offered in Europe, the UK, the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and several Middle Eastern markets. Observers note that the model may represent one of the final high-performance ICE chapters for Bentley, fitting naturally into the brand’s Beyond100+ strategy, which targets full electrification by 2035.
