The return of the Honda Prelude marks a significant moment for the brand, as the iconic coupe reemerges in a modern, hybrid-electric form that blends sporty character with everyday efficiency. Honda continues to expand its electrified lineup, and the Prelude enters this strategy as a driver-focused yet practical option.

The model uses Honda’s two-motor hybrid system paired with a 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle gasoline engine. In the U.S. specification, the system delivers 200 horsepower and 232 lb-ft of torque, while German sources list the European version at 135 kW. European information also notes a combined fuel consumption of around 5.2 liters per 100 km and CO₂ emissions of approximately 117 g/km. The car features front-wheel drive.

A major highlight is the chassis, which borrows key components from the Civic Type R. The Prelude adopts the dual-axis strut front suspension, wide front and rear tracks, and large Brembo brakes with two-piece 13.8-inch front rotors and 12-inch rear rotors. This hardware gives the hybrid coupe a distinctively sporty foundation.

The new Honda S+ Shift mode receives special attention, debuting exclusively with the Prelude. It simulates the feel of a performance transmission, offering quick shift-like responses, downshift blips, and enhanced engine sound. Although the hybrid system uses a fixed gear ratio instead of a traditional transmission or CVT, S+ Shift is designed to increase engagement.

The Prelude features adaptive dampers and several driving modes—Comfort, GT, Sport, and Individual—each influencing powertrain response, steering assist, suspension behavior, engine sound, and instrument-cluster layout. The car is also equipped with a modern technology suite, including a 10.2-inch digital cluster, a 9-inch HD touchscreen with Google Built-In, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the Honda Sensing safety package.

In the United States, pricing starts at $42,000 before destination. In Germany, local publications report a starting price of about €49,500, with sales expected to begin in spring 2026. While full European trim details are not yet published, Honda confirms availability in early 2026.

The Prelude also offers a selection of Honda Genuine Accessories, such as 19-inch Berlina Black wheels, a rear spoiler, and black exterior accents, though full European pricing has not been released.
