Polestar announces the integration of Google Gemini across its EV lineup, presenting the upgrade at Slush 2025 to highlight enhanced in-car interaction.

Polestar has announced a significant step in the digital evolution of its electric vehicles: starting with the Polestar 2, all models will adopt Google Gemini, the new voice assistant that replaces the existing Google Assistant. Built on generative AI, Gemini offers a more natural and flexible way to communicate with the car, allowing drivers and passengers not only to issue commands but to engage in real conversations, ask follow-up questions, or think out loud while on the road.

The first public demonstrations will take place on November 19–20, 2025, at the Slush technology event in Helsinki. Visitors to the Polestar booth will be able to see Gemini in action inside the Polestar 5, which serves as the showcase vehicle for the new interface. Polestar highlights that its long-standing partnership with Google remains central to its strategy; the brand was among the earliest adopters of Android Automotive OS, making the integration of Gemini a natural continuation of this direction.

Google confirms that its collaboration with Polestar spans several years and describes Gemini as an important step in the evolution of in-car human–machine communication. Unlike the previous assistant, Gemini enables more conversational and adaptive interactions, including access to learning-oriented features and the ability to hold spontaneous dialogues, aiming to reshape the digital experience on the move.

Although the rollout is broad in scope, several details remain open. The first available version is set to launch in 2026 and will initially support US English. Polestar notes that certain functions may depend on subscriptions, app configurations, and regional availability. This careful framing reflects the cautious approach both companies take when introducing generative AI into vehicles, where safety, stability, and predictability are crucial.

As Polestar continues expanding its global EV lineup, digital experience remains a central part of the brand’s identity. The integration of Gemini across markets and models may offer a notable competitive edge, especially as the field of high-tech electric vehicles becomes increasingly crowded.
