Lotus confirms the Emeya’s 443 kW fast-charging peak in tests conducted by its Kuwait dealer, detailing battery design and efficiency. Learn more.

Lotus has reaffirmed the capabilities of its electric hyper-GT, the Emeya, after the car achieved a peak charging power of 443 kW during independent testing in Kuwait. The result, reached on a 450 kW DC charger operated by Lotus Al Ghanim, highlights how effectively the vehicle can utilise high-power public charging infrastructure even in the region’s intense heat.

In the trial, the Emeya charged from 10 to 80 percent in 13 minutes and 35 seconds, setting a new benchmark for fast-charging performance. The conditions presented a demanding environment, making the outcome a notable demonstration of both durability and charging efficiency.

The impressive numbers are enabled by a cell-to-pack battery structure that accommodates around 20 percent more cells within the same physical volume, as well as a redesigned cooling architecture that helps maintain thermal stability under extreme temperatures. An 800-volt electrical system further enhances charging speeds across a wide range of chargers.

The Emeya’s efficiency also translates into real-world range: with WLTC consumption rated at 18.7 kWh per 100 km, the car can gain up to 310 km of driving distance in just ten minutes. The 2026 model year version offers a WLTP range of up to 610 km, strengthening its position among the longest-range electric vehicles in its class.

Alongside the vehicle itself, Lotus is expanding its fast-charging ecosystem. The company has begun rolling out its 450 kW ultra-fast chargers in Europe, starting in Germany. Drivers of the Emeya and the Eletre also benefit from Lotus HyperOS, an award-winning navigation and infotainment system that provides intelligent EV routing and helps locate compatible public chargers more efficiently.

As the brand advances further into its electric era, the Emeya plays a defining role. It blends Lotus’s 75 years of engineering heritage with contemporary innovation, establishing a clear reference point for future high-performance EVs.
