Audi detailed its China-focused model strategy at Auto Guangzhou 2025, presenting the A6L e-tron and AUDI E SUV concept. Learn how the brand adapts to China’s market.

Audi underscored at Auto Guangzhou 2025 that China remains its most strategically important market, and it is here that the company is advancing the largest model initiative in its history. The realigned strategy is built on two partners—FAW and SAIC—and two brands: the traditional Audi and the China-exclusive AUDI. This dual approach allows the company to maintain its established combustion-powered portfolio while rapidly expanding a range of localized electric models.

In the second half of 2025 alone, Audi introduced five new locally produced models, and the Guangzhou show became the stage for two defining presentations. The first was the Audi A6L e-tron, the brand’s first fully electric member of the long-running A6L family. Developed on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) together with FAW, the model carries a 107 kWh battery, a driving range of up to 770 kilometers under CLTC conditions, and an extended wheelbase—an attribute long valued by Chinese customers. Production takes place at the newly launched Audi FAW NEV facility in Changchun, where three localized PPE models have already entered series manufacturing.

The second highlight was the AUDI E SUV concept, created specifically for the China-focused AUDI brand in cooperation with SAIC. Built on the Advanced Digitized Platform, the concept previews a large, all-electric SUV featuring a dual-motor setup delivering 500 kW, a 109 kWh battery pack, and the AUDI 360 driver assistance system designed for Chinese traffic scenarios. The model illustrates Audi’s broader focus on digitalization and on strengthening local development capabilities.

China continues to be Audi’s largest global market, with more than 649,000 vehicles delivered in 2024 and combined production capacities across FAW and SAIC facilities exceeding 600,000 units per year. At the same time, competition is intensifying as domestic EV manufacturers expand rapidly, including within the premium segment. This is why Audi emphasizes localization and China-specific digital functionality, aiming to align its products closely with the expectations of local buyers.

The momentum will carry into 2026, as Audi plans to introduce additional China-focused models. By blending German engineering heritage with the technological strengths of its Chinese partners, the company aims to reinforce its position in an automotive landscape that is evolving faster than ever.
